About
Sissy Biggers
Sissy received degrees in English
and French literature from Barnard College at Columbia University.
Following graduation, she headed out to Los Angeles where she worked in
comedy production. During her tenure at NBC, Sissy worked on classics like
Saturday Night Live and Late Night with David Letterman. She also
demonstrated her versatility as a network programming development
executive at NBC while supervising the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, The
Miss America Pageant and numerous comedy and reality specials.
Sissy then joined The Food Network as host and consulting producer
for one of the network's early successes, the popular Ready, Set Cook!
There, she honed her skills as a commanding event host, headlining the
channel's 22-city tour. As her role expanded, she became one of media's
most creative and versatile lifestyle personalities, and a frequent
contributor to NBC's Later Today Show and The Today Show. Sissy's special
brand of off-beat and informative segments have appeared on the Rosie
O'Donnell Show, Weekend Today, The Tony Danza Show, Fox & Friends and
The View. In 2002, she did live commentary with William Shatner on UPN's
Iron Chef, USA. In addition to regular food and lifestyle pieces for
Better Homes & Gardens, she also reported live for Today from the
Pillsbury Bake-Off and from the International Housewares Show in Chicago
for the CBS Early Show.
During the 2004 season, Sissy was a
highlight on the syndicated Living it Up with Ali & Jack as the
program's regular home-keeping expert. That same year, she added reality
television to her resume as the first host of ABC's primetime Extreme
Makeover. In 2005, Sissy joined the 30th season of the venerable PBS
series, Victory Garden, as the program's Lifestyle Co-host. She appears
annually at Food & Wine Magazine's Aspen Classic as host and producer
of the June weekend's closing event, The Classic Cook-Off.
This
fall, Sissy added a new media frontier: broadband content delivery. Sissy
has signed with NBC Universal as the media company's first broadband
channel host in her own series, A Big Life with Sissy Biggers.
Sissy and her husband, Kelsey and their two daughters live in
Fairfield County, Connecticut where she is an energetic hostess and
dedicated community volunteer, using her skills to support many non-profit
organizations.
Their home has been featured in many television
segments and in Better Homes & Gardens and Yankee Magazine.
