A Big Life: Crafting
the Perfect Holiday Gift
Crafting a gift from things around your
home is both economical and personal. Here are some of Sissy's tips:
- Use an apple, orange or pear instead of a pomengranite to create
your fruit/mistletoe ornament.
- Also, for your fruit/mistletoe ornament, use velvet ribbon instead
of satin to help hide the seepage where you have inserted the tacks into
the fruit. The velvet will absorb the seepage.
- Scan your home and cupboard for old glasses or jars that you could
use to craft your votive candleholder. Just make sure that you
choose something that has a smooth surface.
- Don't use a glue stick to affix the wrapping paper to your
candleholder. A glue stick will not provide you with the adhension you
need to ensure your paper stays in place.
- If you don't have a bone folder, use a popsicle stick to burnish the
glue when crafting your candleholder.
- When using white glue for your candleholder, keep a damp sponge
nearby. You can easily wipe your hands to keep them from sticking
to everything. You can also to wipe excess glue quickly and easily.
