A Big Life: To Pop or Not to Pop: That
is the Question
Sissy and her guest, Mimi So, offer some
helpful tips on choosing the diamond that's just right for that special
someone.
- The first step in picking out a diamond is to understand the 4C's:
Cut, Carat, Clarity and Color. Understanding all of the diamond's
characteristics and knowing what to ask for when purchasing a diamond
will empower you when it comes time to make your diamond investment.
- Mimi actually adds a fifth C: Cost. Know your budget. Knowing how
much you want to spend before you begin the shopping process will help
narrow down the decision and make buying that much easier.
- Consider the size and shape of her hand. The smaller the woman's
hand, the bigger the diamond will look. Also, an elongated diamond can
make short fingers look more slender and longer - but make sure not to
overdo the look or it could have the opposite effect.
- When choosing a diamond it's important to consider the lifestyle of
the person that you are purchasing it for. Is she active? Is the ring
going to be too fussy for everyday wear? For active women, for instance,
pick a diamond ring with a sleeker style to make sure it doesn't get
caught, snag things or get in her way.
- It is very important to know what she likes and what she wants
because it is her ring. If you give her a hint that a ring may be on its
way, she'll most likely respond with hints about the type of ring she's
expecting.
- Looking for some inspiration to help you decide whether to pop? Mimi
says that if you've kept her waiting for a very long time, there is an
interest on the relationship. That means the longer you made her wait,
the bigger the ring should be.
