more than 100 of the world's top music acts to inspire an audience of over two
billion people to trigger a mass movement to combat global warming. Live
Earth seeks to inspire its global audience to make meaningful and lasting
changes in their lives and spur action by corporations and governments to turn
the tide on global warming.
"Music is an international language that has the power to move people," Wall
said. "Live Earth's 24 hours of music spanning all 7 continents will move
people in every corner of the planet to take action against global warming."
Live Earth marks the beginning of a multi-year campaign led by the Alliance for Climate Protection and other
international non-governmental organizations to move individuals, corporations
and governments to take action to solve global warming. Former Vice President of
the United States Al Gore is the Chair of the Alliance for Climate Protection
and partner of Live Earth.
"Live Earth will unite people from across all seven continents to spur action
against the climate crisis from individuals, corporations and governments," Gore
said. "Live Earth will spread our call for action to address the climate crisis
to Germans, Europeans and people worldwide."

than 100 countries worldwide as part of the global television feed.
The Live Earth production team will implement new "green event" guidelines
that will address the major areas of impact of live events, including recycling,
food and beverages, packaging, transportation, energy, water usage, and the
event site itself. From power generation at the concerts to garbage
generated by concert goers, Live Earth will seek to "design out" waste and
bestow an eco-friendly legacy on the live events industry. Included in the
ticket price for Live Earth Hamburg is a 0,30 eur CO2 fee to neutralize the
concert's CO2 emissions by planting trees in the southern hemisphere.
Additionally, smart is providing the official shuttle service for all artists
and other celebrities participating in Live Earth.
"I'm happy to be part of an event for this exceptionally important cause and
I hope our contribution not only by taking part but also by acting as green as
possible will influence others," said singer Katie Melua at today's press
conference in Stuttgart. Melua will perform at the German Live Earth concert in
Hamburg.
"With the smart fortwo, DaimlerChrysler has set new standards in urban
mobility and low CO2 emissions in inner cities without making any sacrifices in
terms of functionality, comfort or driving pleasure," said DaimlerChrysler CEO
Dieter Zetsche. "This vehicle combines like no other a modern lifestyle and
individual mobility with environmental protection. It therefore makes perfect
sense that the smart — which boasts the lowest CO2 emissions of any vehicle on
the market — should support the Live Earth concerts and the SOS campaign."
Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands (NYSE:PHG, AEX:PHI) is a global
leader in healthcare, lifestyle and technology, delivering products, services
and solutions through the brand promise of "sense and simplicity". Philips, as
the world's leading lighting supplier, joins Live Earth as Global Lighting
Partner. Philips has put environmental product improvement at the heart of its
business with its EcoDesign program since 1994 and is increasing its green
product range year-by-year. The company was the first to introduce the energy
saving light bulb back in 1980 and is already campaigning together with the
lighting industry, NGOs, energy suppliers, governments and retailers to switch
to energy saving lighting in streets, offices, buildings and homes, as soon as
possible.
Live Earth is being produced globally by Control Room, of which Kevin Wall is
the CEO. Control Room has produced and distributed more than 60 concerts since
its founding in 2005 featuring Beyoncé, Madonna, Green Day and the Rolling
