There were so many raunchy '80s teen sex films ("Porky's," "Zapped!," "Losin' It" among them) that to those not initiated, "The Last American Virgin" might appear to fall in the same coarse class. But there's so much more to this funny, poignant and finally real teen movie; it actually breaks your heart. In between its raw depiction of teenage sexual fulfillment and misery, you'll see three high school friends led by the timid Gary (Lawrence Monoson) all attempting to lose their virginity in a series of boob-filled, funny, raunchy but often downright depressing set pieces. Spiked with a terrific musical soundtrack and a less than nostalgic look at first love/first time, "The Last American Virgin" has earned a respectable and well-deserved cult following among both the freaks and the geeks who remember the times.
