MSN Movies recently got the opportunity to chat with the actress about her
new movie, "Pitch Perfect," the filming of the
"Hunger Games" sequel "Catching Fire," and also about
helping to promote a Nestle candy bar campaign benefiting the Girl Scouts of the
USA.
MSN Movies: You're working on a pretty sweet promotion with Nestle
and the Girl Scouts of the USA. How did you get involved in the
project?
Elizabeth Banks: I was a Girl Scout when I was young, and I was a Brownie
before that. I think the organization Girl Scouts of the USA is an incredible
organization. They take care of more than 2 million girls at any given time. I
love the friendships I made. I love the skills I learned. I was very competitive
with my sister when we were getting our badges [laughs].
It really fostered a lot of really great memories for the two of us, and I've
always loved the cookies. Whenever they're in season, I make a big effort to
find them. I love to buy them in bulk and freeze them for when they're not in
season. Nestle Crunch partnered with Girl Scouts of the USA to create these
Nestle Crunch Girl Scout Cookie Crunch Bars. They're fantastic. They taste
exactly like the cookies. I honestly was like flabbergasted at how delicious
they were.
Which one is your favorite flavor?
I'm a huge Samoa fan of the Girl Scouts cookies, so that's the caramel crunch
one, and that's my favorite, the caramel and coconut one.
And the sales of the candy bars, which go through the end of this
month will go to the Girl Scouts of USA?
[Nestle] has a partnership with Girl Scouts for a certain amount of the cash
to go and fund Girl Scouts programs. The candy bars are only available for a
limited amount of time, so now is the time to go out and find them.
Did Nestle give you a good supply that you're going to stock up
on?
[Laughs] Nestle gave me a great supply that is already gone! We couldn't
keep them in the house. I actually did freeze them. One of my favorite things to
do with the Nestle Crunch cookie candy bars is to freeze them and then I smashed
them up over ice cream.
You mentioned you and your sister had a competitive rivalry going. Do
you have a funny story you can share from when you were a Girl
Scout?
I remember I went to my first week away with Girl Scouts and coming home
covered in mosquito bites [laughs]. But I still had great fun. I learned how to
ride a horse with Girl Scouts. I never would have been able to take
horseback-riding lessons on my own. It was something that we did through the
programming. Riding horses, it led me to loving horses, then I grew up and
became an actress, and one of my first big roles was in "Seabiscuit" and I had
to ride horses with Jeff Bridges.
WHERE ARE THE REAL STARS.??? WHEN I WAS YOUNGER THERE WERE REAL STARS IN HOLLYWOOD. THE STARS OF TODAY SEEM LIKE A LOT OF WANNA BE'S. THEY AREN'T THAT INTERESTING. WHERE ARE THE JIMMY STEWARTS, THE CARY GRANTS, THE JOHN WAYNES.

Well...I have to agree....all the "real stars" are sadly gone, or working in the director's chair. All we have left are whatever the hell a "snooky" is, something called a "honey Boo-boo"? or something like that, and all the super teens with white teeth, big smiles, perfect hair.....and no "real" talent. Hollywood....you have lost it.....shame on you!
I watched this show with some curiosity for awhile last night; simply because the wife was watching it. One cannot honestly say that there was anything normal about the characters portrayed in that show. Perhaps I am an anachronism, but I must conclude that if NBC wants to convince people that these weirdos are normal, there must be some quite odd people at NBC..
