"American Inventor" 8
p.m., ABC Grouch extraordinaire Simon Cowell and the producers behind
"American Idol" present this new reality series for ABC, which will
(hopefully) uncover the hottest new product in the United States -- and
make one struggling inventor's dream come true. Hosted by Matt Gallant
("The Planet's Funniest Animals"), the show follows four judges --
entrepreneurs and marketing executives among them -- as they scour the
country through open casting calls. After they choose a group of
finalists, each will be given $50,000 with which to develop and refine
their product. Ultimately, someone will go home with a $1 million prize
and the chance at offering Americans the next must-have consumer item.
"The Loop" 8:30 p.m.,
FOX "The Loop" makes its time-period premiere tonight as Sam (Bret
Harrison) relishes the challenge of creating a low-cost airline for their
company for his boss Russ (Philip Baker Hall). It's a prestigious
assignment that's sure to keep Sam on his co-workers' bad side. D'oh!
Meanwhile Lizzy's (Sarah Mason) friend Jenna (guest star Rachel Boston,
"American Dreams") -- a V.P. ("veteran partier") for a tequila company --
tries to convince Sam to compete against her in a tequila challenge. Sam
is determined to excel at both, but Jenna's persuasiveness lands him on
the beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the morning his presentation to
Russ is due.
"ER" 10 p.m., NBC What's
the haps at County General? Weaver (Laura Innes) contemplates hip
replacement surgery after she finds it hard to do her labor-intensive job,
while Kovac (Goran Visnjic) tries to ease Abby's (Maura Tierney) fears
about raising a child together. Meanwhile, Neela (Parminder Nagra) decides
to attend a support group for military spouses -- but when she offers her
opinions on the war, the meeting turns into a debate. Isn't that always
the way? And after Sam (Linda Cardellini) treats a fainting victim named
Richard Elliot (guest star Armand Assante, "Judge Dredd"), she finds
herself with an intriguing job offer.
"College Basketball: NCAA Tournament --
First Round" Noon, CBS (Check local listings) It's
officially March Madness -- the time of year when college basketball fans
all over the country (nay, the world!) get their fill of the best college
hoops and scope out the newest "phenoms" surely headed to the NBA. The
first round tips off at noon ET, with a prime-time block of hoops heaven
following at 8 p.m.
"Will & Grace" 8 p.m.,
NBC A nervous but optimistic Grace (Debra Messing) decides it's time to
tell Leo (returning guest star Harry Connick Jr.) she's pregnant with his
child, but when she finally works up the courage, she receives some
unexpected news. Meanwhile, Karen (Megan Mullally) grows jealous over the
good fortunes of her friends.
"The O.C." 9 p.m., FOX Ryan
(Benjamin McKenzie) struggles with the decision of whether to invite
Marissa (Mischa Barton) to his birthday party while Sandy (Peter
Gallagher) contemplates inviting one of Ryan's relatives to the
celebration. Later, Julie (Melinda Clarke) and Dr. Roberts (Michael Nouri)
finally come clean to their respective daughters.
"Lil' Kim: Countdown to
Lockdown" 9:30 p.m., BET In case you've been living under a
rock -- or you just don't follow celebrity-related court proceedings --
rapper (and fashion victim) Lil' Kim began serving a prison term for
perjury last fall. This new BET show follows the star as she prepares for
her stint in the pokey.
