Gyllenspoon in Los Angeles on Feb. 29,
2008 |
Now that Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal's romance has made it past the one-year mark, the tabloids can
almost taste the wedding cake. In its new "Ready to Wed" cover story, OK!
trumpets that the unobtrusive twosome is looking to settle into connubial bliss
sooner rather than later. "They've been talking marriage for a while," a Reese
mole tattles to the tab. "They'll be formally engaged any day now. They want to
spend the rest of their lives together." The insider also says that Witherspoon,
32, and Gyllenhaal, 27, who two weeks ago were snapped smiling wide as they held hands on the South Carolina set of the
actor's now-shuttered flick "Nailed," have no plans to shack up. The supposed
reason? The former Mrs. Ryan Phillippe doesn't want to set a bad example for
kids Ava, 8, and Deacon, 4. "This is a very serious relationship," asserts the
snitch. "But Reese is very conservative and traditional. I'm sure she doesn't
want her kids to see her 'living in sin.'" A rep for the actress is mum on the
matrimonial yammering, while Gyllenhaal's flack tells the mag there's no
knot-tying in his near future.
Halle Berry has repeatedly declared she'll never
marry again, so the recent appearance of a diamond band on the fourth finger of
her left hand had many wondering whether she's reconsidered her anti-nuptial
position in the wake of daughter Nahla's birth in March. But People reports the
sparkler wasn't a gift from the twice-divorced Oscar winner's model-beau Gabriel
Aubry and has no significance other than she simply took a shine to it. "It's
not an engagement ring," a source assures the mag. "Halle just saw it and
thought it was beautiful so she bought it for herself." No word on why the
actress felt the need to wear it on the digit sure to arouse the most
speculation, especially when she had nine other fingers from which to
choose.
Charlize and "husband" Stuart Townsend are
prettier than all of us. |
Another Oscar winner who's often stated her intention to skip that long walk
down the aisle is Charlize Theron, who reiterates her stance in the
June issue of W magazine. "I always knew that I didn't want to get married,"
says the super-glam actress, who nonetheless refers to Stuart Townsend, her boyfriend of six-plus years, as
her husband and often wears a band on her all-important finger. While Charlize
may not be sold on matrimony, she can't wait for a visit from the stork. "I've
always known that I'd be a mom from the time I was a little girl," she enthuses.
And she certainly has the logistics down. When asked about her long-term romance
with the Irish actor, she jokingly grunts, "Man, woman. Like to touch each
other."
Cynthia Nixon poses in a very un-Miranda-like
gown at the London premiere of "Sex and the
City." |
Cynthia Nixon has upped her fashion game while
stumping for the "Sex and the City" movie, and there's a possibility of a
different kind of elegant ensemble in her future. "If it becomes legal, I think
we would," the actress tells the London Daily Mirror of getting hitched to
longtime love Christine Marinoni. "It's something my girlfriend is interested in
and it was not something my boyfriend ever was." She's referring to Danny Mozes,
her partner of 15 years and father of her two children, whom she split with in
2004. "I always avoided marriage in the past and was always very wary of it,"
continues Nixon. "I felt like it was potentially a trap. People sometimes want
the party, the gifts and the public celebration of this big love -- they're
excited about that rather than about the lifetime commitment. So I always
steered clear of it." Now, she says, "I think that to get married to her would
be a little act of rebellion. It's like if you've never had the vote and then
you get it you're going to run out there and vote."
Color us unsurprised over chatter that Carmen Electra, who's previously vowed
to stick with Dennis Rodman and Dave Navarro until death, could be experiencing a case of
chilly tootsies. According to Life & Style (via Perez Hilton), the buxom C-lister was unhappy to
discover her guitarist fiancé Rob Patterson got a deal on the black diamond
engagement ring he slipped on her finger last month. "She seems really
embarrassed. I think the ring is a real deal breaker," a source alleges to the
mag. "She thought she'd be getting this giant rock. Instead, Rob bought it
online for a bargain price!" And here we thought size didn't matter. Still,
Electra seemed smitten with Patterson while chatting up People on Saturday,
saying, "The last couple weeks have been amazing on a lot of different levels.
Rob is amazing. We were great friends and it actually turned into something much
more."
Kelly Rowan could probably use the support of Sandy Cohen right about now.
The actress, who co-starred on "The O.C." as Kirsten Cohen, wife of the aforementioned family
man and all-around mensch played by Peter Gallagher, welcomed a baby girl on
April 28, according to People, which adds that she's also just called it quits
with her fiancé, double-digit Canadian billionaire David Thomson. "She was
thrilled to have become pregnant at 42," a snitch tells the New York Daily News,
"but when it came to actually getting married, there were too many problems. It
was doomed." Thomson, who was first linked to Rowan in the spring of 2007,
reportedly has two daughters from his first marriage and a son from his second.
The paper claims the latter union ended when he presented his wife with "divorce
papers hours after she checked out of the hospital where she'd given birth ..."
Rowan's rep assures People that "mom and daughter are doing great."
