| ALL YOU NEEDED WAS LOVE: For rock fans, 1967 remains the once and future
Summer of Love. The Monterey Pop Festival signaled rock's cultural flowering,
albums overshadowed singles with their ambitions, and the Beatles followed the year's most astonishing album with
its de facto anthem: On June 25, they recorded "All You Need is Love" during the
first global satellite TV broadcast, the "Our World" special, beamed from Abbey
Road to 400 million viewers. It was just one highlight to a dizzying year,
