John Mayer is a giver, at least according to the tabloids, which seem convinced he's spreading his newfound hotness around to as many deserving ladies as he can. In recent days, the floppy-haired crooner has reportedly boogied down with both rumored onetime fling Cameron Diaz and current squeeze Minka Kelly.

On Nov. 30, reports Us Weekly, Mayer was shaking his lanky groove thing at New York's GoldBar with Diaz, whom he was spied looking "nuzzly and besotted with" for a few weeks over the summer.

"They were totally on a date," a spy tells the mag, which says they were "kissing," "holding hands" and "dirty dancing."

"Are you laughing at my glasses?"

Cut to three nights later and John was back on the town, this time with "Friday Night Lights" looker Kelly, whom he was first spotted cozying up to in September.

The dark-haired duo kicked off the evening with dinner at go-to hangout the Waverly Inn before heading off to hot spot Butter.

"They looked really cute together and were having so much fun," a club eyewitness tells OK!. "Minka even was laughing as John really got down."

But it seems his worlds collided that night thanks to a nervy shutterbug.

As Mayer and Kelly exited the Inn, a paparazzo with a passing knowledge of his musical oeuvre and no sense of shame (a handy thing to lack in that line of work) asked, "Is Cameron Diaz's body a wonderland?"

The face-contorting singer zinged, "That's probably one of the most tasteful things a guy holding a camera ever said."

The persistent photog then sang a few bars of the song, prompting Mayer to shake his head and roll his eyes.

"By the way, do you see that I'm with a woman?" the usually affable popster shot back as he climbed into a car. "Do you see that I had dinner with a woman and you're asking me about another ... Wow, that's terrible. I'm gonna be thinking about you all night."

No word on whether he had some 'splainin' to do after they drove away.

According to Us, Mayer, who last month supposedly sweet-talked and smooched a self-esteem-challenged blond bombshell, has been telling pals, "I am single, and Minka is not my girlfriend," a declaration that sounds a mite stilted for everyday conversation.

OK!, however, quotes one of his buddies as saying the opposite, specifically, "He is friends with Cameron. But Minka is definitely his girl."
