Sensational Salma
Here's some good news for Salma
Hayek fans. The talk around Tinseltown is that she's absolutely amazing in
the film Frida and the pitter-patter of Oscar gold could be in her
future. The film, which is based on the life and times of famed Mexican painter
Frida Kahlo, has already received rave reviews. One scene that really has
tongues a-waggin' features our sensational Salma dancing with (and passionately
kissing) none other than Ashley Judd.
And if you thought this movie was easy to make, think again. Despite Frida's incredible life story, it wasn't easy to get financial backing. Think about it, a film about a woman with one eyebrow and a moustache who was crippled by a tragic accident at 18, who then dives into a search for artistic, political and sexual fulfillment?
When asked about the importance of including the lesbian scenes in telling
the story of who Frida was, Hayek told Static magazine, "As an actress,
you cannot have any trepidations about anything. Otherwise, you might as well
not be an actress. This was a very important part of who she was. It would have
been a betrayal not to include it. She had meaningful relationships with women.
We could not include them [all] in the movie because it's only a two-hour movie.
We have to focus on one line - the love story. It's only two hours. It's
impossible, y'know?"
(Don't) Kiss Me Kate
You can be sure that in the new film
The Rules of
Attraction, true blue Dawson's Creek fans were a bit freaked
out over James
Van Der Beek's portrayal of a drug dealer who gets involved in a sex
triangle with a gal (Shannyn Sossamon) and a guy (Ian Somerhalder). But what
James has to say about getting steamy with Creek co-star Katie
Holmes might just throw a wrench in the five-year fantasy fans have had
since the show began.
So what was it like for Dawson to finally go all the way with Joey (Holmes)? "It wasn't all that uncomfortable," James confessed at a recent press event. "I've known Katie for about six years and it's strange making out with somebody you know that well in that capacity. It's like kissing your sister sometimes." Ouch!
Here's some advice James; if you want to keep your fans tuned in to the
show's romantic twists and turns, never repeat that sentence again.
