As the temperature rises, so do tempers ... so get ready for a whole new flock of Hollywood couples saying adieu. Recent casualties include Sharon Stone and her hubby of five years, Phil Bronstein. While the two are officially splitsville, the one who's actually responsible for giving the ax orders is still a bit of a mystery.
The couple managed to issue a joint statement saying their split was "amicable and mutual," but most reports claim it was Phil who filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. The Evening Standard, on the other hand, reports that it was Sharon who made the decision after she returned from London and Moscow where she filmed, "A Different Loyalty," with Rupert Everett.
Joining the butcher block of unions gone sour, Edward Norton and Salma Hayek are also rumored to be parting ways. Not long ago, busy boy Ed was spotted with a number of gorgeous blondes, but now PageSix.com is reporting that one lucky lady might be getting closer to the nest. A source told the site, "Ed was introducing the woman as his girlfriend. You couldn't find a more different-looking woman from Salma."
Hmm, I wonder who it could be. Perhaps Tracey Banks? It was only a few weeks ago the actor was spotted chatting up the model, who also moonlights at the Spearmint Rhino club in Los Angeles. "He was hooked the minute he saw her," one insider tells The Mirror. "He couldn't stop staring at her and was chatting her up, big style, paying her loads of compliments and being very tactile ... At one point he even told Tracey, 'I want you to come for a ride in my new electric car.'" Smooth move, Ed.
Coolest Man (Not) in Hollywood
Let's face it -- Johnny Depp is hot. What other 40-year-old American in Paris
can continue to take on risky roles, play pirate dress-up once in a while and
still come up smelling like roses?
Even when he's detained at an airport, it's a cool thing. Case in point: On a recent trip through Miami, the actor almost gave an airport screener a heart attack when the poor guy searched his bags and found a stuffed vampire bat and two stuffed piranhas! No, he doesn't have a thing for small animals -- word is, they were two new additions to his taxidermy collection. The screener also found white vitamin powder, which in a town like Miami could easily be mistaken for Colombian nose candy. But in the end, the actor was sent on his merry way ... stuffed creatures, mystery powder and all.
As for Depp's latest risky role in "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," it remains to be seen how audiences will react to his outrageous gold-toothed character. But I'm guessing he won't be losing any sleep over the reviews. "Being a pirate was all about freedom -- absolute freedom," he tells the New York Daily News. "The fighting, the money were all-important, but it was really the freedom that mattered most." And it's the freedom from Hollywood that Depp enjoys most these days. He currently lives in France with pop star Vanessa Paradis and their two children, Lily-Rose and Jack.
Drew and Demi
Don't you hate it when you lose
something that is not only dear to your heart, but pricey as well? Well, Drew Barrymore must be totally freaking out right about now.
According to The Metro, the partying star lost one of her most treasured
possessions at the New York "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" premiere: a $70,000 platinum
and diamond bracelet just given to her by boyfriend Fabrizio Moretti. A fellow
guest said, "She burst into tears. It was Fabrizio's first present to her and
she had only worn it twice." Ouch. At least there's better news in store for her
dark-angel co-star Demi Moore. On top of dating Ashton Kutcher and raising her publicity factor to feverish
heights, the busy actress has also landed the part of love interest in the next
Austin Powers film, which will start filming next year. How shagadelic!
