(Note: This review refers to the Blu-ray version of the DVD.)
Joss Whedon's short-lived foray into sci-fi television was a bust on TV but a hit on DVD, and that makes it a natural for a Blu-ray release. Whedon aptly called his show a Western in space, and his handheld camera and on-the-fly looseness (even in special effects scenes, an idea picked up by "Battlestar Galactica") gives this show a feeling of roughness that matches the frontier flavor. Fifteen episodes on three discs with commentary and featurettes. New to this set are a bonus commentary track and a "Firefly" reunion featurette with executive producer Whedon and actors Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk and Ron Glass.
