Tracey Letts shortlisted for British theater award

LONDON (AP) -- Plays about life in America and in Britain are shortlisted for the London Evening Standard Theater Awards.

Tracy Letts' epic American family saga "August: Osage County" is shortlisted for best play, alongside "Jerusalem" by Jez Butterworth — a play about living in contemporary rural England. "Enron" by 28-year-old Lucy Prebble and "Punk Rock" by Simon Stephens are also nominated.

The finalists were named Monday. The best actress award has been renamed the "Natasha Richardson award" in honor of the popular actress who died in March after a skiing accident. Deanna Dunagan, Penny Downie, Juliet Stevenson and Rachel Weisz are shortlisted for the prize.

The winners will be announced on Nov. 23.
