The "Orange Is the New Black" star tweeted out a frequent flier miles joke Thursday, just 65 minutes after the airline announced it had lost contact with Flight MH17, a Boeing 777 carrying 295 people.
Anyone wanna buy my Malaysian Airlines frequent flier miles?
Outrage was immediate. One person responded:
@JasonBiggs are you funny? No, you're not

@JasonBiggs you fucked yourself with this tweet..too soon man, too soon to joke

Biggs followed that up with:
Instead of apologizing for his original joke, the 36-year-old actor seemingly doubled down and tweeted:
Hey all you "too soon" assholes- it's a fucking joke. You don't have to think it's funny, or even be on my twitter page at all.
The idea that I wouldnt have any empathy 4 the victims or their families because I make a joke is absolutely ridiculous. U know that, right?
That last guy is the kind of person I want following me. All you other pussies please go back to being pussies. Thanks!
After that Biggs seemed content to retweet words of support from those of his 440,000 followers who thought his joke was appropriate.
@JasonBiggs keep the funny coming. It in no way was an attack at the people killed in the tragedy. Laughter is lifes natural band aid.

Biggs, who has stirred the Twitter pot many times before with controversial jokes about every subject from Juan Pablo Galavis of "The Bachelor" to Paul Ryan's wife's bleaching habits, has not yet apologized for or retracted his comments.
Netflix, "Orange Is the New Black's'" exclusive distributor, and Lionsgate, the show's production company, have both declined to comment on Biggs' tweets.
The Malaysia Airline flight, which was traveling from Amsterdam for Kuala Lumpur, was reportedly shot down over Eastern Ukraine.
