Yes, the original was groundbreaking for its day, but please, a special effects movie that is better in 1933 than 1976? Impossible. The acting is much better in this film as well. Great performance from Jeff Bridges. All in all, a very well done film. Was this review helpful? If you are to own Apocalypse Now, make it "Redux". It's the only way to fly. Was this review helpful? She has created some great songs in her solo career and by far her greatest is "Sleeping Angel". The feeling and intensity she puts into that song is equalled nowhere else in her collection. Thank you. Was this review helpful? Cameron Crowe did an excellent job surveying real high school life for this movie. Well done and worth owning on DVD. Was this review helpful? Chase was real funny back then and this movie is a classic. Just remember, "getting there is half the fun, you know that!" Was this review helpful? If you grew up in the 80's chances are you'll like this. Hagar, Nicks, and Buffet steal the show. Oh, by the way, pick up the movie as well. Was this review helpful? I grew up watching this movie and never get tired of it. It has a great "feel" to it...the cold, damp, gray, blue-collar atmosphere that just defines football. Great script and good acting from everyone, "All the Right Moves" is right on! Was this review helpful? (aside from the box set) All the great songs from a great band. Was this review helpful? As I've said before, I'm not a fan of sequels although I do make exceptions and this is one of them. When you have such a good screenplay and character depth with a movie, a sequel can be great. (i.e., The Godfather Part II) Rocky II is a very good movie in it's own right despite having the familiar title of "Rocky" in it. Unlike Rocky II, far too many sequels have you thinking back to the original instead of thinking about what's ahead and for this reason they fail. Rockys III and IV, to me, seem to lack the screenplay depth of the original and Rocky II and that's why they're much more fast paced and ultimately shorter in time length. Rocky V goes back to more of the grassroots Rocky themes, i.e., overcoming adversity, poverty, people taking advantage of you and being thrown back on the Philly streets. I think Rocky V is a good sequel as well. Was this review helpful? The character he plays, Jerry Black, is a story's dream...so much depth and complexity and Nicholson pulls it off like the true pro he is. Great storyline and supporting roles as well. I truly believe that the general audience today would not know a good movie if it punched them in the face. Was this review helpful? This is NOT a film about boxing, rather, its a film about an American boxer, who is very poor, that gets the ";chance of a lifetime"; to better himself and siezes it. Its such an inspirational movie and really proves why the USA is the greatest place on earth. Dynamite performances all the way around from Stallone to Spinnell. Remarkable screenplay. In my opinion, one of the greatest movies ever made. Was this review helpful? The real fan will get past track #1 (which is great, don't get me wrong) and listen to the songs ";Let's get it up";, Evil Walks";, Snowballed"; and ";Spellbound"; in addition to the rest of the album. This is such a kick-ass rock and roll album with its thick, heavy, and dark sound. AC/DC's best and they've got some of the best ever. Turn it up!!!! Was this review helpful? Sign In |
