First off the main characters name is Romulus. Like Romulus who founded rome 1100 years earlier? Then he gets help from a military commander named Aurelius, which happens to be the name name of the Roman Empereor in the movie Gladiator, not to mention that use the same line from Gladiator, 'What you do in life echoes in eternity'. Next it is pretty obvious The Magical Sword is suppose to be like Excalibur, only this sword was wielded by Julius Ceaser!?!?! Then they meet with the ninth legion???? how is that possible the Ninth Legion existed 500 years earlier then when this movie is set. And there is a magician??? But it's not Merlin. And a female warrior, seems like they are following with the battle ready Guinevere that they tried in King Arthur '04.
This screenplay is obviously a regurgitation of a bunch of history and other films mixed together. The might as well make the Last Legion a group of 300 spartans led by Achilles or Hercules or Zeus to put the cherry on the top of this POS that they are trying to pass as a movie.
But I could be wrong! I guess we will have to wait and see. Was this review helpful? Movies aren't very original anymore, although this wasn't a great movie overall, at least I didn't feel like I was watching something I had seen before. The special effects were nice. True that the acting was a little under par. The plot was pretty good and even tried to put out a nice message about being Eco-friendly. Furthermore, that seemed to offend some viewers who don't care about our environment and want mindless superficial entertainment. I must say though that it is pretty bold of INTEL to consider themselves the forefront of technology in the future since they dropped in 2006 and 2007. Was this review helpful? True they could have put maybe 30 minutes or so more developement into certain things like the prophecy, but I rate this movie a 5 because it has stayed strong 5 movies into the series, and the only other phenoma like that was 'Star Wars' which to me is really two triologies from different eras. If anyone can name a movie series that has 5+ movies as good as this then I would like to know what it is. Was this review helpful? Some of the fight sequences don't look well on the big screen, in some scenes it looks like just a mass of Transformer parts everywhere. From the previews on television it seems like it might translate well onto dvd for smaller TV screen.
I like the fact that they have a fresh new face as the female lead, she is also on the cover of this months Maxim magazine.
The storyline has a real traditional feel as well, true to the original work, in my opinion.
I also think it had just enough Transformers to keep your attention (8 Decepticons and 5 Autobots = 13). Not too many to keep up with, but not too few to bore you.
Defineitely in my top 5 this summer, I rank this above Spider-Man 3 only because I expected more from Spider-man. I would probably even rank this above Pirates...3, but maybe just next to Live Free or Die Hard. Harry Potter will probably be the other in my top 5 this summer. Was this review helpful? If you understand what they are going for (the old school grindhouse effects) and you understand it is suppose to be kind of cheesy, then you will absolutely love this movie. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 1 users found this helpful Posted: 7/2/2007A review of Ghost Rider by Moses6533 Ghost Rider was a favorite comic book character of mine, but this movie is soo made for kids it is a joke. The GHOST RIDER is suppose to be a pretty ruthless dude, but they tried to make him funny? And that point he does,WTF! The only good casting was Nic Cage and Sam Elliot, but then they had a really horrid screenplay to deal with. The special effects were great, too bad they were all in the previews. Greatest part of the movie is when he is in the jail cell and all those 'white thugs' get beat up, but the one black kid is judged innocent. HAHAHAHAAH! Get real! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 1 users found this helpful Posted: 7/2/2007A review of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer by Moses6533 Marvel Comics were my generation, but because kids are such a large demographic they are making crappy marvel movies that are really aimed towards children. This movie was total crap. A couple of so-so special effects, a terrible storyline, terrible acting. Too bad though, because it has a lot of potential to be great. It has a decent cast (Jessica Alba, Julian McMahon, Chris Evans), but the lines in both fantastic four movies are just soo lame. They do not even develop the threat of Galactus, one second it is 'oh no here comes a planet devourer' next second there goes the Silver Surfer to kamikaze the threat, and if you read the comics then you would know Galactus can't be destroyed, that's like destroying creation. Even with the Silver Surfer this movie still #^!@ed, his part wasn't even all that great. Not to mention this is following up the horrible marvel movie 'Ghost Rider' I am so dissapointed at this years comic book movie adaptations. Spider-man was barely OK, but definitely lacking. So if you are in the market for babes and good fight sequences without the need of a great storyline then this could be the movie for you. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Although I must admit the movie is not really that great (could have used more comedy), I give it a 4 because the plot of domesticated zombies is an original idea for a movie, and with all the remakes and sequels we are definitely lacking on original. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 7/2/2007A review of Live Free or Die Hard by Moses6533 AWESOME FRIGGIN' MOVIE! Very well developed plot, excellent cast, great script. I absolutely loved the lines, the way Justin Long keeps saying 'did you see that'. To some it may be corny, but I really loved this movie. I was not at all excited to go see it, but I was really surprised that it was this good. Yeah ok, so some of the scenes are over the top, but come on, with movies like Harry Potter, Fantastic Four, 1408, those movies are about magic, comsic beings and ghost, so what if Bruce Willis kills a chopper with a car. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Not very deep plot. No background on why 1408 is evil other than the fact that it's on the 13th floor (because everyone knows the 14th floor is really the 13th) and the numbers add up to 13. Weak! I am trying to avoid spoiling the movie for those who have not seen it, but the recording at the end is a total Hollywood cop out, doesn't leave anything to the imagination. Was it real was it in his head? Well the recording pretty much clears that up. Yet, if she was real what was her significance other than bringing the main character out of his funk so to speak. Not a very helpful daughter if you ask me. Why does the room have a death wish? The director decides to show the message on the wall at least 3 times, which in the movie means the room is allowing the main character to see this message, which in consequence plants the seed of Was this review helpful?
