It deserves an Oscar in my opinion. The story is simple yet surrounds tragedy like a Russian Novel. Nothing great happens to these orphans and they tend to get by and survive...and the tragedies that shape their lives leaves me feeling happy to live in the United States! and pray that none of this stuff happens State side. So the movie tells a story that is directed so well, I felt as though it was real and the main charactor was my friend...and I cheered for him. See this movie now and come to appreciate America, and how it feels to be a ____ at least once in your life :D Was this review helpful? The only drawback that I noticed is that the story is fast and abbreviated. Considering the subject, the situations, and history of these people living in the forest, I would have liked more charactor developement. But then, so many of the charactors come, go and are replaced by new heros...so I can force myself to appreciate why the movie did not focus more on the final years, but on the brothers who led these people to a sense of freedom and "security." The movie basically follows an outline--but it's a powerful subject matter, mature, and thought provoking, as are most WWII stuff. Was this review helpful? The acting was fair and the plot was ok, and special effects were remarkable. The story was highly osmotic though and I liked how the movie progressed and didn't get too dramatic in any one particular area. I appreciated the family that could yell, and think this story line can do well with a part II and III...as the story has cult-like charisma of about 8+. The charactors, their jobs, their abilities were alluring. Some of the actual climatic parts were sort of lame...but action oriented and I appreciate the action sequences in general. Check it out on the big screen too--and Push in 3D would be amazing! Was this review helpful? I recommend this movie as it was entertaining and a good popcorn flick. I am biased as I love the cartoon, but inspector Clauseau did a respectable job in this movie. Was this review helpful? I also appreciated the cultural differences between Zelleweger and the employees of the small town. The movie was predictable, the charactors were over the top, the love interests left me feeling awkward--but I recommend this movie because it hits home about being an American! SOS people to save our souls and our jobs...and this movie puts this message out there in a sort of slapstick way. Amusing and the director got it right some of the time :D Was this review helpful? LIam did a fantastic job and was believable. There was a lot of action, fight scenes, and brilliant deductions on what to do next, but especially recommend this movie to the young people traveling abroad...and the ladies who tend to put themselves out there too far. Be aware of the surroundings and what the date has in mind...its not always a wedding band and box of chocolate. Was this review helpful? I really enjoyed the movie and found myself rooting for the various plots. The actors gave a solid performance, a little predictable and other times not. But this was a fun, entertaining, and uplifting movie about empowering one's self. The girl in the green scarf is not a chump! Was this review helpful? But anyone who watches JC movies is likely to see the same guy played 100 different ways. But this one is different because it shares a good message that was really needed in my family cause my husband sits around and says no all the time--there has to be lots of people like this who should watch this movie as "advice." Get out and experience life! and experience this movie! Was this review helpful? I was grateful to be able to not have to reach across my 12 y/o eyes. The movie was fun, creative, emoting Sandlers charisma. The movie was predictable, but still enchanting. Keri Russel did a fab job too as a real person with wit and approachability. Russel and Sandler's relationship was not believable; not a lot of chemistry between them. However, the movie is about the stories. The ending was not a good message for kids on dealing with problem people. But overall it is a fun popcorn movie. Was this review helpful? What ever the reason, it was really good, but as a friend put it, it does stir one and made me feel alive as I felt the actor's pain. Like a Russian novel, the torture of some experiences is wildly powerful and hauting. The first half of the movie was abstract, but worth the wait if one is interested in the contemplations of good v. bad in the various levels of inward retrospection. Was this review helpful? I appreicated how the movie brought about information about how many assasination attempts really happened and that there was an opposing force. HOwever, the movie did a below average job of introducing charactors as if it assumed the viewer could fill in the blanks, like about the monster *($@&* was, why people were so loyal to the furor, and there was no charactors I was passionately for or against...so I say the story is strong, but simply told a story. I did not feel involved as really good movies can make me feel and develope a personal stake in how one lives or dies. While it was a good movie, it did not get me involved. Was this review helpful? There were parts that were over the top, but overall appreciated a movie I could take my kids to that had no heavy sexual overtones, humping, or over stimulation with really stupid stuff, farts and burps.
