It has so many layers, so many fears and feelings, I just hope you get a chance to see it.I must admit I've seen it a number of times and always, always find it fresh and fascinating. Here's why... Gloria Swanson is completely over the top and believable as an over the hill silent screen goddess living a solitary life in a very creepy mortuary of a home. Her butler is also incredible...William Holden plays a down on his luck playwrite, just trying to avoid his creditors.Their paths cross and the story flows from there. A sprinkling of well-cast supporting actors fill-in the back drop for this bizzarre pairing. In fact, I learned the actors who played Miss Swanson's friends in a bridge match were actually some of her former silent screen acting friends! They definately seemed ";at home"; and natural.I don't want to give the whole story away, just to say the best part is probably the very ending. Surreal!!I do hope you take advantage of this opportunity to see a classic film, the way they were once made. Caution: you may never go back to the new garbage they're churning out now!
