I was just left with too many questions after this movie. Where the hell did Renee Zellweger's character come from? What happened to Natalie Portman's character? Did he not try to get her out of that hellhole? Too little information about some pretty significant events... BUT...it was definitely refreshing to see a civil war film that was about PEOPLE and not just BATTLES.

Well, this movie was cute...extremely quirky, but cute. Adrian Brody was FANTASTIC, and Milla Jovovich did some pretty good acting, as well, but I think if they had left out the psychotic exboyfirend, I would have given it a better rating. His character just ruined the flow of the film.

This movie was so slow in the middle and so seemingly obvious that we nearly turned it off. BUT...the ending definitely made up for it! I NEVER suspected the actual killer, but I was disappointed that there wasn't more explanation as to why the girl was killed. Also, the last few scenes of the movie were incredibly frustrating because I wanted some kind of resolution...but it just didn't happen. Yeah, yeah, they're old friends and that's great, but COME ON!

I really enjoyed Desperado and El Mariachi, and even though I am a HUGE Johnny Depp fan, this movie was not worth watching even for the Johnny factor! The story is ridiculous (even for this line of films), and Johnny looked horrible.

It has its good point, certainly. The cinematography is cool and it is a little creepy at times, but it is absolutely not scary at all. It should be classified as a mystery, perhaps, but it is not worthy of the horror category. IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET, YOU DON'T WANT TO READ THE REST! My main complaint was that I didn't understand the ending until I read a lot of reviews. Sure she copied the tape. That's great. But her son didn't copy it and he didn't die. ? What the hell? Also, they say ";what will happen to the next person we show this to";. If copying the tape is what gets you out of the loop, then why don't they just give it to people and TELL them that they must copy it...? No, there must be more to it than that. All in all, the movie was descent, but it is not a classic, and it is certainly not frightening in any way. (and seeing some dirty kid with long hair walking toward you is not creepy. nope. i'd have to see something more than hair and dirt if I'm going to be creeped out).

I think the critics are a little off on this one. Sure it's shallow, selfish, greedy, ridiculous, and unrelenting, but it sure as hell is FUN! I loved every minute of it. Can't wait to see it again!

Okay, I gave this movie three stars because that is exactly "middle of the road", and I feel that this movie is also "middle of the road"...sometimes literally. The horror was incredible...this movie is probably the most disturbing thing I have ever watched, but I enjoyed it far more when it was laughable. By the middle of the movie you realize that it is not just Rob Zombie's sick sense fo humor fueling this thing, it must be a truly disturbed psyche to come up with this and make it seem so unapologetic and strangely realistic at times. I will never watch this movie again, but it will play over and over in my mind for some time. Too disturbing to let go of quickly!

I think this documentary was very well-done, but there were a couple of quirks that should have been ironed out more smoothly before its release. First of all, all of the NRA stuff should have been kept together. I know it was nice to end on that note, but it should have been all in one spot. Also, though I vastly enjoyed the Marilyn Manson interview, there was an error in Manson's logic that should have been pointed out. Likewise, I do not believe that listening to music such as his would lead to violent behavior, but Manson is wrong if he thinks that the president of the United States has more influence on young people. Honestly, what young person gives a darn about politics? Not too many, but you will NEVER find a person (young or old) that says they do not listen to music--unless they are deaf. Therefore, music is a far more influential item for young people than politics! All in all, i recommend this film, but there were a few problems in the editing process that should have been addressed.

This movie speaks a lot of truth, but at the same time, no one really wants to be faced with the harsh reality of the real world. I was incredibly happy with the ending...it was JUST right, and I thought the character development was superb. This movie is pretty depressing, but in the end, there is still some hope left.

With all of the critics reviews so gleaming and in praise of this movie, I was certain I would enjoy it at least a little. I was SORELY mistaken. This was by far a lame attempt at complexity and the only thing that we come to learn about these characters is that they are ALL completely pathetic. The satire upon satire upon satire was just too much, and the end product was just awful.

This was absolutely the most riveting movie I have ever seen in the WWII genre. Never before has the emotion and point of view of the Jews OR the Germans been seen so blatantly. I had previously written research papers about WWII Germany, but even in all the reading I was forced to do, I never stumbled across anything so compelling. This puts Anne Frank's diary to shame. I would love to see this movie again...and again...and again... BUT...it is AWFULLY depressing!

Posted: 5/5/2003A review of Poltergeist by greennova2001
I saw this film only because many people deem it a classic in the horror genre. However, I really did not find this movie frightening. Disturbing, sure, but not frightening. It is very cheesy at times, and by the end of the movie, I was screaming at the TV because the characters were just so incredibly stupid. However, being a filmlover, I am glad that I finally saw it, but I will probably never watch it again...it isn't worth the rental fees. AND IT SHOULD NOT BE RATED PG! I don't know what idiot decided that. It is not in any way appropriate for children to watch (even with adult supervision).

Posted: 5/5/2003A review of Rosemary's Baby by greennova2001
By unbelievable, I mean two things...the plot is completely unbelievable, and at the end of the movie, I absolutely cannot believe what happens (Rosemary's final reaction)! I rented this movie simply because I heard it was a classic that filmlovers must see, and though I am glad I watched it, I don't think it was ";horror"; scary...it was really more like a psychological thriller. Interesting, though.

I have seen TONS of war films, and I honestly feel that this one is the BEST I HAVE EVER SEEN! Most war movies show only a few minutes of basic training and have little to no character development. This movie is quite different. By the time the war scenes actually start, you already understand many things about the individual characters and about the whole mentality that is associated with the marines. Exceptional film! And in classic Kubrick fashion, it certainly shows the potential evil within all mankind.

Posted: 4/30/2003A review of Event Horizon by greennova2001
Okay, sometimes this movie is just pure velveeta, but I think the majority of it is downright frightening! I was really suprised to see that this movie did actually have a storyline...which is nice becuase most scifi movies don't...but the story is admittedly flawed. If you just want to be scared and/or entertained this is a pretty good movie rental.
