I went to see it despite my opposition to Mel and his bizarre behavior as of late, but I was pleasantly surprised by how excellent this film was! And dont believe all the hype about this being so gory either. If youve watched ANY major horror picture within the past 5 years, than trust me, youve seen worse!! So dont sweat that. But theres nudity, so maybe the kiddies shouldnt see it. Otherwise, this is definitely a winner and I smell a few Oscars here! Was this review helpful? It wasn't a terrible movie, but it wasn't what it's been hyped up to be either. Not at all scary, so for those of you thinking that you shouldn't see it for that reason, well, think again. The actress playing Emily Rose does a superb job playing the demon-possessed college coed. And there was some suspense to this film, especially when you consider it's based on a true story. But other than this, it's really nothing to get excited about. In fact, I found myself yawning through some parts of it. It's great if you have nothing better to do, but otherwise, don't kill yourself trying to go see it! Was this review helpful? VERY well written, excellent plot and story development, good solid characters, very suspenseful, tastefully done with a New Orleans setting. Actually the city of New Orleans takes on a character of it's own and becomes one of the stars of the film. I've never really taken Kate Hudson seriously until now. She does a superb job in the lead role for this film. And the legendary Gena Rowlands is ALWAYS good and is so here! And yes, the ending is one of the most thrilling I've seen in years. Not a scary film though, not at all, but it will give you a fascination with New Orleans and with everything they've just endured thanks to Katrina, it's probably a good thing to have a non-hurricane related interest in that great city! Go see this one!! EXCELLENT!!! Was this review helpful? But the plot and storyline just ain't happening in this one, but then again, I guess it could be said that this isn't what you come to see this type of film for, eh? Definitely a guy flick, definitely a martial arts fan flick, action lovers and lovers of explosive car chases won't be disappointed. Everyone else should probably stay home! Was this review helpful? Guys everywhere will appreciate the humor in this movie whether virgins or not....LOL. Steve Carell does an excellent job in his portrayal of a middle-aged virgin here. This movie has many, many moments of sheer laugh out loud fun, BUT beware! The cussing is NONSTOP and after a while it gets old. That's the only reason why I'm giving this 3 stars instead of 4. Storyline @#$%s and isn't anything we haven't seen before, but there is a message at the end when he waits to get married to the girl before he has sex with her. I definitely liked that part, but NOT the very end, when they all break out into this ridiculous song and dance routine that was TRULY retarded. Just pay attention at the end and you'll see what I mean...and you WILL agree with me too!!!! So, the bottom line: GUY FLICK ALL THE WAY, and only females who are NOT overly sensitive should see this. Definitely no children, no mothers, and no religious people! Enjoy!! Was this review helpful? Sign In 6 out of 13 users found this helpful I probably would have given this film 3 stars if it had not been for Rachel McAdams intense beauty! Move over Julia and Nicole, Rachel is the new sexpot of the silver screen. Rachel is totally ravishing in this picture and now I'm a huge fan of hers! Cillian Murphy does an excellent job as usual as the sick, twisted, demented bad guy and he will be THE actor to watch in the near future. But it's Rachel who is totally and completely captivating throughout this entire film. Sure, it's not the best story ever told, but you'll fall hopelessly in love with Rachel, as I did. Ok, ok, ok, so I'm a *$#^er for a pretty face! SHOOT ME!! LOL PS: oh and before I forget, watch out for Colby Donaldson of Survivor fame starring as the head secret service-security guy! Bad script, bad storyline, but absolutely HILARIOUS picture!!! Rob Schneider and Eddie Griffin will keep you in stitches throughout! It's so good to see a movie that's not afraid to offend! Everyone's so PC nowadays, it's just made life boring, but this movie brings back that zest of life that those of us over 30 love and miss! Definitely NOT for the kids, or your mother, and for some of you, not even your girlfriends! So just grab the fellas, and go check this out and be prepared to laugh your butt off!! A truckload of fun!!! Was this review helpful? Sign In 12 out of 14 users found this helpful Posted: 8/15/2005A review of Four Brothers by Drac87 What a great flick this was, folks!!! You're gonna love this one. I haven't given a film 5 stars in a LONG time, so it was refreshing to see a GOOD movie finally!! Everyone does a great job here, but watch out for the profanity, because this film is LOADED with it. So it's definitely NOT for the kids, or the christian folk! But for the rest of y'all, you WILL enjoy this one immensely, trust me. Very realistic, excellent writing, FANTASTIC SOUNDTRACK, and it's got some pretty funny moments too. Adults only....go check it out!!!!! Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 3 users found this helpful This movie was just downright TERRIBLE!!!! What a shame. This was no way to honor the memory of the late great Elizabeth Montgomery, as the film shows several images of her. Not even Nicole Kidman can save this disaster! And Wil Farrell is just God-awful here, no wonder I don't care for ANY of his films. Ladies and gentlemen, this movie was SO bad, that I seriously had to stop myself from walking out on it (which is something I've never done, no matter how bad the film is). But I considered this option about halfway through this crap....it's really that bad. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, don't waste your time here, NOT AT ALL. Don't even see it when it comes out on DVD or in a few years when they show it on tv for free. DON'T BOTHER!!! Trust me on this one. I am a HUGE fan of the tv show Bewitched, but this crap here is in fact an insult to the original show, idea, and actors! DO NOT SEE THIS PICTURE!!!!!! Was this review helpful? Sign In 6 out of 12 users found this helpful Posted: 7/18/2005A review of Wedding Crashers by Drac87 Well, surprisingly, this film was pretty good. Decent. Nice. Had a message to it. And a not so bad storyline. Although Owen Wilson is supposed to be the star of the show, it's Vince Vaughn who steals EVERYTHING and ends up becoming the main attraction here. Wilson is funny, but Vaughn is down right HILARIOUS!!! Very adult movie, not something you'd take your mom to go see. So it's not for mom and it's not for the kids either! But if you like to laugh, and if you want to see the man who I think is on his way to becoming the next great comedic genius in Hollywood, then go see Mr. Vaughn do his thing. Also it was nice to see the lovely Miss Jane Seymour on screen for a change, as she appears as the mother of the girl that Owen falls in love with. Owen and Jane have a very hot scene in the middle of this picture. Surely, it's not to be missed, guys!!!!!! Was this review helpful? If you're a die hard Fantastic 4 fan like I am, then you'll definitely get something out of this picture. Special effects were awesome, Jessica Alba is amazing as always, and Julian McMahon and Chris Evans give good performances, especially Julian as the evil Dr. Doom! But other than this, if you're not a fan of the comic book version, then don't bother around with the film. The plot is very weak, and there just isn't much there minus the fantastic special effects!! Fans of Alba, Evans, and McMahon should go see this. Fantastic 4 comic book fans should go see this. Everyone else, either wait for it to come out on DVD or don't bother at all. It could have been so much better! Was this review helpful? What a nice little film this was!! It starts off really slow and there's basically no interest in the first 30 to 45 minutes of the movie, but then it starts to pick up once Brad and Angelina realize that they have been "sleeping with the enemy"!!! Some intense fight scenes, and the technology in this film rivals that of tv's "Alias". Great movie and it says alot about marriages today as well, so I highly recommend it for all married couples especially. Children should not see this, as the violence can be intense at times. But everyone else should be fine. Angelina is clearly one of the most beautiful women to ever grace the silver screen. She absolutely GLOWS!! Was this review helpful? Kudos all the way around to EVERYONE involved here.....to the temperamental Mr. Crowe who amazingly manages to successfully disguise his Aussie accent....to Ron Howard for his superb, and brilliant directing of this fine piece......and ESPECIALLY to Paul Giamatti for giving one of the most breathtaking and most stunning supporting actor performances in recent memory! Paul is just excellent, as the trainer, manager to Crowe's character. I really see visions of Oscar down the line for Giamatti. What a truly fine actor he is, and his work in this film needs to be recognized. The film itself is great, some of the finest boxing scenes ever filmed, and let's not foget Rene Zellewegger who also does good as Crowe's loving and concerned wife. Howard tells a beautiful story with this movie, and I highly recommend this film to EVERYONE!!!!! Go see it!!!!!!! Was this review helpful? This was a TERRIBLE movie, and I cut it off halway through the thing. I'm pretty open-minded guy, and I'm college educated, but I have never seen such utter waste as this film was. Not even my favorites like Jude Law, Naomi Watts, Lily Tomlin, or Dustin Hoffman could save this crap!! It has absolutely NOTHING going for it. NOTHING. If you haven't see this and your contemplating it, then please don't, because I'll slap you if you do. It's really that bad, folks, and I hate to even give it one star! Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 2 users found this helpful Posted: 5/31/2005A review of Mindhunters by Drac87 Wow, what a great little film this was! It's very good, suspenseful, intriguing, and eventful. Nice cast too....LL Cool J, Val Kilmer, Kathryn Morris, and Christian Slater all really stand and deliver here, and they kick some butt too. This movie has all the makings of a traditional guy flick: it's got tons of action, plenty of suspense and excitement, some mystery and a few sexy women! LL Cool J gives the word BUFF a whole new meaning, while Kathryn Morris gives a decent showing away from her TV show Cold Case. But I got one problem with this thing, the ending. I didn't like the person they picked to be the culprit. I think they should have made the guy in the wheelchair the bad guy! That would have been SOOOOO awesome! Go see this one folks! It's pretty good and it makes ya think. Definitely for the law enforcement crowd!! LOL Was this review helpful? Sign In |
