Some will say that there isn't a good plot to this one, but who cares. Everyone alive should see this movie before they die. Rodney Dangerfield brings his trademark one-liners and Bill Murray adds some hilarious sub-plot as the idiot groundskeeper. I could watch this movie a hundred times and still want to see it again.

If only I could give this movie six stars. There is so much thats great about this movie that you truly have to see it to believe it. For the guys there are bloody violent battle scenes and for the ladies an epic love story between William and Murron. I never grow tired of watching this one.

This is one of the best war movies ever. The beginning scenes at the boot camp set the stage for what follows and helps to learn what it took to become a Marine. Kubrick's directing is top notch as usual. After watching this you'll be singing the Mickey Mouse song in your dreams.

This movie was a far cry from it's sequel Gettysburg. The main good point in the movie was the acting. Actors did terrific portrayal of the characters. Jeff Daniels did another amazing job as Joshua L. Chamberlain. And the actor who played Thomas Chamberlain was just as good. I was glad to see most of the same actors that had been in the movie Gettysburg (Sgt. Kilrain and Winfield Hancock). I feel that Robert Duvall played the part of Robert E. Lee just as brilliant as Martin Sheen had done in Gettysburg. My main problem with the movie was Stephen Lang. He was George Pickett at Gettysburg and now he's T.J. Jackson. What gives? And how obvious was the computer animation at Fredricksburg? <br> It seems as though the movie was trying to cover too much of the war. While Gettysburg was just a three day battle, Gods and Generals spans three years. I didn't detect enough drama in any of the roles and there was nothing in the movie leading up to the ending. The viewers aren't exposed to Jackson enough to really grasp the impact of his death. The battle scenes didn't do enough to show me how truly awful war can be. I watched the movie on video and I'm glad I didn't waste money on it in the theaters. I hope the Last Full Measure turns out better than this. I'd give it one star if I wasn't a Civil War buff.
