I figure that my taste is exactly that, MY taste... that having been said though, I feel compelled to write a review of this one.
V for Vendetta was not about a specific contemporary political agenda, it was not bashing Christianiity, or promoting homosexuality, it was a simple treatise on the dangers of complacency.
In the movie, a series of disasters have led the English people into allowing a strict Big Brother-esque government to take charge. All media are controlled by the government -books, music, television, radio etc.- and anything non-conformist is illegal, punishable by being black bagged, and never heard from again.
If this movie preaches anything, it preaches the importance of thinking for yourself, of being involved in your world, and not just blindly following where your government, church, or teachers lead you.
But dont be swayed but what any of us have to say. Go see the movie and decide for yourself! Was this review helpful? I enjoyed the action, and some of the sub plots that were developed, and of course Matthew is just worth watching! They did a good job.
But-
I am a Cussler fan, and while I love Matthew he is NOT Dirk Pitt. It's too bad Hugh Jackman didn't do the part, he is more my idea of what Dirk should be. Al Giordino should have been Italian! Sicilian orSouthern Italian, I love Steve Zahn, but Al he is not. This is not to say that I didn't enjoy watching them in the movie, just not what I was looking for. And Penelope Cruz should not have been Eva. Yes she is beautiful, but she has a thick accent, and did not look right for the part. They should have gotten Catherine Zeta-Jones
One last thing, the write up for the movie mentions the gold mine, Arbraham Lincoln and Kitty Mannock, but other than seeing the plane, none of this was even touched on in the movie, I would have liked to see more of the back story! Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-2 of 2 Per Page |
