If you believe the unwarranted negative reviews that say things like the beginning was slow, CGI wasn't perfect, storyline was worn, or why Logan (Wolverine) aged to fast then stopped at 30 let me discuss.
First off the beginning was beautiful and the art direction was done in a cinematic way that is reminicient of the old color filming with Gone With The Wind.
The movie starts with the telling of a childs realization he killed his father to venge his stepfathers death. Then the brotherly closeness that brings two siblings through the Civil War, Korean, Vietnam, WWI-, II filmed in dark colors that set up a violent momentum which leads to rivalry then climax and clash, as we see the true nature and depth of Logans soul. Several mysteries of Wolverine are revealed throughout that will absolutely delight fans. The storyline was unique as the acting was . Remember the plot for Wolverine has been around for 35 years, so you cant say it borrowed from contemporary cinema. Nearly every story borrows something somewhere, but its what it does with it that makes it play well. This movie excells in this. Logan and Victor make the parts their own. Who cares if Logan stopped aging at 30. Sharks take as long as 30 years to reach maturity, and can live 200 years. The good vs evil complex that is common in superheroe movies plays at a different level with Wolverine. He has many more dark contrasts then your typical Clark Kent/Superman.
I never noticed anything wrong with the CGI in this movie. Its bigger, and better than most movies out there. This is the type of movie many will want to see more than once. If you want to see an excellent fast paced entertainment go see this. Was this review helpful? Whether its Statham, Segal, or Jet Li, I enjoy the action and characters that each bring to the genre of martial arts. Their were some exciting stunts and the bomb bracelet was a great plot device treat for the movie. The train with car jumping on was amazing, or the car riding on 2 wheels between the semi-trucks. This Transporter edition gives us another beautiful ride through Europe, although the road may have been bumpy, it was definitely worth it for me.
The movie did have some minor holes in logic. First why would the main bad guy need Jason Statham to transport the ministers daughter if she could just of easily been hold up in a locked room by the bad guys until the contract deal was done. In the end we get Jason's character bringing the daughter to a bridge back to the bad guy who had her to begin with. Seems like a waste of time. Next, why would the bad guys think having a minister sign a "contract" under duress would have any authority in court. Lets say the minister signs the contract. The next day after getting back his daughter he can go to the authorities and say he signed it under extreme duress, thereby making the contract invalid. I realized the contract was just a plot device, but they should of thought it through better, thats all. Was this review helpful? lets see, bella arrives as new girl to school and gets greeted by popular gay news reporter for school who introduces her to his popular friends. dispite bellas lack of personality and goth like appearance she immediately makes best friends with the popular crowd on day one. within weeks she is beiing asked out to the prom by one of the most popular guys as well who she turns down for her first love edward.
all the while the best looking guy in school, edward cullen falls for bella based on her smell, and looks despite the fact that there are many more attractive women at the school.
what saved this movie is the superior acting of robert pattinson and the unique story line. the vampire baseball game added a nice touch. there wasnt much chemistry between edward and bella. this wasnt scarlett, and rhett that is for sure. as a male bella does nothing for me. but all in all a nicely reimaginated vampire story. there is nothing quirky about this movie that made the original interesting. the acting is flat, and not very memorable. nothing was done in this movie that wasnt done before, only done by better actors. trying to do redo what accomplished actors christopher lee, eddie albert and bette davis were a part of only leaves 'witch mountain' comparisons that are going to leave all but the best actors looking like disheveled hacks. the movies has some abrupt character deaths that were not obviously known until mentioned later. this in itself is unusual in any movie since the audience is not allowed to mourne the death at the time it happened. the movie is a bit long, the ending is abrupt and we are left wondering what happened to the joker. but all in all there are superior performances that can't be overlooked, and for this alone the movie ranks high on my list. The
movie touches on many pychological aspects of a person who lives much of their life inside their head. the ending of this movie is perhaps the best twist I have ever seen since the first matrix movie. this is a must see movie! I think the people who dislike this movie are weighing the few negatives heavily. The movie has plenty of positives. Light hearted fun, believable actions scenes, and perhaps the most
interesting character to date featured in a movie aka the Silver Surfer.
The major negaitive that weighs in more than the plane jane script would be the beautiful Jessica Albas inability to stretch as an actress. Her one dimensional portrayal of a mysterious geneticaly enhanced renegade in Dark Angel seemed appropriate. Unfortunately, this same approach to her character in Fantastic Four hits the wrong chord. She stands still to deliver many of her lines. She brings nothing to her character. A manequin with a moveable mouth would of served almost the same approach as her. The gentleman behind the Silver Surfer did perhaps the best job acting wise during the entire movie. Lastly, everyone clapped in joy at the end of the movie! How many movies does that happen in? Very surprising was the comedic undertones written into the characters played by robert downey junior, woody harrelson, and rory cochrane. Keneau reeves plays the perfect straight man to the almost 3 stooges like friends that are basically addicted to a future drug D.
Not having read the book was probably a benefit since this movie on its own is in my opinion revolutionary in its frenetic like pace that complements the brother watching you story, akin to a character in itself. This movie may turn out to be a cult classis! I hope I am the first to say this.
The casting was unbelievable and if robert downey doesnt win an award or at least nominated I will be truly amazed. Was this review helpful? So what.
As it went on I was drawn in deeper almost without warning. This movie plays on your emotional heartstrings with every twist and turn. I tried to resist. Dakota Fanning truly brings a soft but convincing performance. Kurt
Russell, and Kris Kristopherson in one of their best roles.
The performances, and emotional suttleties out-match it's cliches. I cried at this movie. Bring a hankerchif. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-9 of 9 Per Page |
