Period. "The Grudge" doesn't rely on gore to scare, it's just very creepy for nearly the entire movie. It's similar to "The Ring" only I found it creepier. I'm a horror movie buff, and I can't remember the last time a movie sent chills down my spine. Twice. The movie really should be AA (age 14 min.). I do admit that I heard some punk-ass kids behind us say "It's not scary, it's funny". I think either 1) They just can't "get into" movies and any horror movie is a waste of time for them; or 2) Something like this is so beyond the scope of their limited imaginations. If ghost stories are unbelievable to you... why are you at the theatre dumbass! Anyway... there was plot to this movie (the movie jumped through many flashbacks to tell you "what really happenned") and some mystery... it's sad to see that some people aren't smart enough to understand. I don't want to end with review on a sour note, so I'll just say "great movie". Was this review helpful? Kill Bill was a typical Terrantino movie: Some 'SICK' characters, the 'Pulp Fiction' cool style and music, and ultra violence (this time anime comic book style ultra violence). If you can handle ULTRA VIOLENCE and blood spraying everywhere, this movie is worth seeing. This movie has no more or less plot than any other movie and has some MEMORABLE SETS and GREAT SCENES, some great ONE LINERS, and of course GREAT ACTION. A good movie, possible watchable many times.
Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 2 users found this helpful Although Troy was historically incorrect, it was entertaining. The fight scenes were very well done, especially the coreography between Pitt and Bana, you can tell they trained for weeks with the spear and shield. The acting was great (especially Pitt and Bana), not as bad as some people mention here, some people complain that they didn't use greek accents but I prefer an actors regular accent instead of a bad fake accent. Although the movie has the words "EPIC" written all over it, TROY won't pull at your heart strings like a movie like Braveheart will. Having said that, the movie is still worth watching, the 3 hours will go by quickly.
Was this review helpful? Dawn is a fast paced epidemic movie that follows the main character (Sarah Polley) from her home and chaotic neighbourhood to a war zone highway to the mall where much of the action takes place. Many disgusting scenes, not for the faint of heart. The chaos of the epidemic was very realistically done. I would have rated this movie 5 stars because it was executed beautifully, but there wasn't much original here. WATCH THE CREDITS, YOU'LL SEE THE FINAL FATE OF THE HEROES.
Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 5/10/2004A review of Van Helsing by Freud612 Sorry, for some reason I feel compelled to write more about this CRAP movie. Their SUPER FAKE ACCENTS were annoying beyond belief, certain plot elements made no sense (DRACULA "MATES" WITH HIS WIVES AND THEY PRODUCE "ALIEN" TYPE BABY COCOONS WHICH ARE "DEAD" AND CAN BE REANIMATED ONLY WITH ELECTRICITY, WITH FRANKENSTEIN AS A CONDUCTOR). Yes, as sad as that sounds, that is the plot of the movie. Anna, who is super skinny, tried (in vain) to use here sword, but it was painfully obvious this petite woman couldn't fight her way out of a paper bag. She should have been dead 10 times over, but someone always came crashing through a window. Some of the scenes were completely ridiculous (HORSES DOING A "DUKES OF HAZZARD JUMP OVER A BRIDGE!), PEOPLE SWINGING LIKE TARZAN AND HITTING A BRICK WALL AND BEING OK. It is painful to even remember this garbage. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Was this review helpful? The plot was far too predictable to be great, although the acting was half decent.

Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 2/16/2004A review of House of the Dead by Freud612 THIS MOVIE MADE ME WANT TO CLAW MY EYES OUT! I love zombie movies (Resident Evil, Return of the Living Dead, 28 Days Later), but this was one of the worst movies I've EVER seen! The characters made no sense, the director never showed us anyone dying in practically the entire movie (is this a horror movie?), if they were going to show boobs they didn't show enough, the action was lame, the situations made no sense, they did the worst rip off EVER of the Matrix (the twirling didn't even make sense)... god it was awful!

The one saving grace of this movie is that it is so bad THAT IT IS ACTUALLY UNINTENTIONALLY FUNNY in some places. If you see the annoying video game snippets, girlfriend tent scene, greg dying scene, and the ending, you'll know what I mean. IT DID MAKE ME LAUGH THOUGH, IN A B-MOVIE KIND OF WAY.

Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 2/9/2004A review of The Butterfly Effect by Freud612 Perhaps the BEST SUSPENSE MOVIE OF THE YEAR. The tension is thick from the start to the end of the movie, and it have you guessing until the end. The acting was great, especially the child acting. The movie was sad at times, the storyline felt very real... I found a lot to relate to, just thinking about those TURNING POINTS in our lives where ours lives can go one way or the other... this movie is highly recommended and much much better than expected. WHAT ARE THE CRITICS THINKING?
Was this review helpful? This movie is a funny little break from life with some excellent action scenes. Johnny Depp and the main villain Barbosa are the best parts about this movie. The special effects are excellent and the plot is good enough. An excellent action movie!

Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 5/29/2003A review of X2: X-Men United by Freud612 X2 has even more action and flows better than the first movie, has a better storyline and character development as well. It also showcases the mutant's amazing powers. One of the things I liked about X2 compared to the first movie is that they "unleashed" the powers of the mutants more in this movie. In other words, they gave them as much power as they are supposed to have according to the comic books. As a die hard X-men fan, I appreciate this.Die hard fans can also expect to see more mutants and cameos from several of the original X-men.Although this movie was rated PG13, the movie didn't hold back showing Wolverine use his claws on enemies. Magnetos powers also very realistic in several areas, although the violence was not very graphic and there was no 'gore'. Again, die hard fans will appreciate the 'realism'.One of the things I like about the X-men movies is that I find the characters, action scenes and storyline very believable and compelling compared to other comic books movies (i.e. "Daredeveil").I also like that the X-men movies don't kill off the villains every movie (i.e. "Batman"). I can see this franchise being successful for a very long time.Overall, a great movie, even for girlfriends/wives :). Was this review helpful? It is BETTER in every way possible. Anyone who actually read the book will be pleased that the QUOTES that actually make LotRs unique are actually there. Because they add 10-20 seconds here and there, this movie has much more FLAVOR than the original. One of the best movies ever made.
Was this review helpful? Not even wet t-shirt contests and boobs could salvage this piece of BORING crap.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 2 users found this helpful Posted: 10/14/2003A review of Once Upon a Time in Mexico by Freud612 I liked Desperado (the first movie) but didn't like this one.

The alliances between the characters were too confusing and there were several scenes that were entirely pointless and just added to the confusion (who cares if the drug dealers daughter is a cop and is not given respect by her peers?). The scenes were connected poorly.

The violence was far too over the top. Desperado was a little unbelievable, but this movie was ridiculous. I just can't handle seeing a guy standing motionless in the middle of a room (not even dodging!), looking cool and then then just mowing down 50 other guys with his machinegun. Come on... I thought we were past this A-Team bull!

Depp was interesting and the start of the movie was good, but overall there was just too much bullshit for my taste.
Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 2 users found this helpful Posted: 7/28/2003A review of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen by Freud612 The action was ok, the SPECIAL EFFECTS WERE GREAT and the SETS WERE FANTASTIC. On the downside, the PLOT WAS THIN, there were many THINGS THAT DIDN'T MAKE ANY SENSE (vampires in sunlight? Submarine in Venice? hahaha), and it was extremely unrealistic (even for 'fantasy'). A good movie if you just want some "fantasy"/action that you don't really want to think about. Oh, and the ending was SO CHEESY. Just don't take it too seriously and everything will be ok.

Was this review helpful? Sign In |
