Even though the animation is a little crude to our 21st century standards, the stories are the most memorable in animated history. From the cool futuristic settings of New York in 2023, to the super adventurous story of 'The Defender' at the end of the film, HEAVY METAL is THE CARTOON OF THE EIGHTIES! What was really cool about this film, apart from the stories and cast, was the soundtrack. Fans of heavy metal rock will love listening to Black Sabbath, Cheap Trick, Nazareth, as well as the coolest song on the soundtrack, Heavy Metal(title track) which is performed by VAN HALEN's former band member SAMMY HAGAR!
