Had a discussion about the best western ever made. I picked this one. You'll always get controversey about "the best", so I'll concede that it is one of "the best". This movie manages to combine 5 story lines effectively, create the energy of opening the wild west, revenge, love, friendship, evil and did I mention revenge. Every actor fulfills their role. It's gritty, in your face, and just the right pace to soak it in, just like a dry, hot, dusty August day in Noparticular Place, WEST. Everything is perfect in this movie, even the music. I wish I had seen it on the big screen, but now I catch it on TV or rent it. If I start to watch, I can't leave. It's 4 hours with commercials, so tape it.This is not a chick flick, it's not a feel good movie, it's a friggin western right to the last bullet. One of the best if not "the best".
