Posted: 11/5/2003A review of Imagine by Kris_Nesta
This is a John Lennon classic and his second brilliant album in a row. After Imagine, he became hit and miss, similar to George post All Things Must Pass.

This album to me, is a little overrated but John deserves credit and this album conveys all the emotions and does so matter of factly.

The title song is still one of the most recognised, acclaimed anthems of the last century. It has an eternal message which will still be relevant long after you and I are gone.

How Do You Sleep? Is more scathing featuring some of George Harrison's slide which he provides on several tracks.

Oh Yoko! and Crippled Inside add a bit of fun and humour not making this record to depressing and serious.

2 other highlights are How? the underrated song of the album as far as I am concerned and Jealous Guy which is a Lennon classic.

This album is beyond words but there are a couple of tracks that aren't to the high standards of those I have mentioned. Still no record is perfect, innit?

Posted: 11/5/2003A review of Rock 'n' Roll by Kris_Nesta
He was sued for "Come Together" being too similar to "You Can't Catch Me" in the sue you, sue me period of the 70's so Lennon was to re-record "You Can't Catch Me" which got him into the spirit to belt out an album of old time rock and roll a music he loved, back to his roots!

Suffers from horns and a heavy, unecessary production, and this was not the only album of his that suffered that fate.

He makes "Stand By Me" his very own and it is by far the shining light of this collection.

The other tracks is just John having fun and paying homage to the heroes of his youth.

Get Lennon Legend for Stand By Me. Nothing else here is worth writing home about and if you really like Lennons voice on old standards I suggest you check out the Beatles Live at the BBC Complete sessions album.

Mind Games can be considered a return to form after several protest projects which are not every music fans cup of tea.

The title track is one of the best of his career if not a little overproduced by Spector. The best track you will find here.

The next song that touched me was Out Of The Blue which is very underrated.

The rest are dispensable protest slanted political ramblings and rockers.

For core Lennon fans only :)

One of the best albums of all-time. What else can be said that hasn't been said about this landmark album.

Not all the tracks are brilliant though but most are and this really works as a collection of interrelated songs and is a cohesive piece of music.

A Day In The Life is the best from this album by a mile. Followed by She's Leaving Home,Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds and one of Georges finest Beatles ragas,Within You, Without You.

This isn't the best Beatle record but by any standards one of the most influental and notable in rock history

Posted: 10/25/2003A review of Help! [UK] by Kris_Nesta
The HELP! film, soundtrack and album is so underrated in the Beatles catalogue, there are so many memorable and noteworthy songs on here. The best here are: Your Gonna Loose That Girl: Great John vocal and amazing back-ups from Paul and George, great song still sounds fresh after all these years Help!: #1 single, Lennons first serious song, different to anything the band had ever done before Ticket To Ride: #1 single, a new electronic sound and Georges memorable guitar riffs, one of the most distinct out of the Beatles catalogue. I've Just Seen A Face: Pauls best track besides Yesterday, One of my all time favourite Beatles songs a nice country song I Need You: A hint of Harrisons emergance out of the shadows of L/M. You Got To Hide Your Love Away: Brilliant Lennnon song, first outsider to play an instrument on a Beatles song The Night Before: Great upbeat Paul tune This album is very enjoyable

One of Macca's better efforts and a sure fire #1 record. Best moments are "Put It There","My Brave Face" and "This One". A must have record and better production and sound compared to some of his 80's output

Posted: 10/25/2003A review of Extra Texture by Kris_Nesta
You is the best track of this mediochre Harrison album which is significantly mellow and ballady in comparison to other records by Harrison. Most material here is anything but first rate but is listenable and Harrison fans will enjoy parts of it.

What a fine exit by Wings. BTTE is among my favourite Wings records and it has some of their best rockers on here such as the rockin "Getting Closer",the orient tinged rocker "Old Siam, Sir", London Town styled adult contempory such as "Arrow Through Me",grammy award winning instrumental in "Rockestra Theme",one of Wings most beautiful in "Winter Rose/Love Awake".

Had a few filler been replaced with Coming Up, Daytime Nightime Suffering and Goodnight Tonight, this would of been a chartopper and one of the best albums Wings have done

Posted: 10/25/2003A review of Dark Horse by Kris_Nesta
Dark Horse is an average record, nothing world-beating about it. Harrisons vocals are below par but the music is great and catchy.

Simply Shady is a good track and the music on Maya Love is a treat. Dark Horse suffers from his hoarse vocals but was a hit. Far East Man is one of the better tracks on this album.

ATMP is a truly phenomenal album. I need not explain the circumstances that allowed George to explode with creativity and brilliance. This is a must have album for any lover of music and wins hands down when discussing the greatest solo-beatle LP.

Highlights are aplenty and the jams as someone said are enhanced to their full glory with the remastering.

The alternate version of "My Sweet Lord" the 2000 version really grows on you and that guitar is amazing.

The instrumental of "What Is Life" is epic.

Now the highlights in general:

the musical thunderstorm that is "Wah-Wah", the catchy "Awaiting On You All","Apple Scruffs" and "My Sweet Lord", "What Is Life", "Beware Of Darkness", I'll end up listing them all.

"Isn't It A Pity?" is one of his best as is "Run Of The Mill"

I CANNOT SPEAK HIGHER OF THIS ALBUM
His first U.S #1 single the catchy duet with Elton, "Whatever Gets You Though The Night" is a highlight on this album.

The other high note is the superb "#9 Dream"

Dont buy this album because both songs are on Lennon Legend, the best buy for any fan

Posted: 10/6/2003A review of Give My Regards to Broad Street by Kris_Nesta
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE CRITICS WHO PANNED THIS MCCARTNEY PROJECT. THE SONGS ARE MAGNIFICANT

Ok, not the best acting in the motion picture but for fans, it is really actually enjoyable, even though my homemade gravy is thicker than the plot.

I am gonna talk about the music.

The original songs from this album are excellent. These are the hit "No More Lonely Nights" which is an instant McCartney classic. Then the 2 rockers in "No Values" and "Not Such A Bad Boy" which are energetic and worthwhile.

The rest are good covers of beatles, wings and solo songs. The Beatles medley is nice, Paul's preferred version of "Long And Winding Road" and "So Bad" are improvements from the originals.

"Ballroom Dancing" works great and my favourite scene of the film.

All in all, this is just a bit of fun in the 80's and because its Paul McCartney, delving into his past, it gets slammed.

But this is fun and fans will know just what I mean

Posted: 10/6/2003A review of Flaming Pie by Kris_Nesta
This release from Sir Paul reminds one of Harrison's Cloud Nine. Both benefiting due to similar circumstances and both determined efforts to get their artists back with a blast.

This album is a back to basics album with its own charm and character. It has its rocking moments such as "The World Tonight", contemporary rock in "Young Boy" and sheer brilliance in "Calico Skies and Somedays".

One of Paul's best solo albums, no doubt about it. From the heart, more emotion than previous albums which sold out to trends (mid 80's)

One of the best albums of the year of 1997

Posted: 10/6/2003A review of Band on the Run by Kris_Nesta
Widely cosidered the best Paul/Wings record, a commercial and critical success, Band On The Run delivers.

The singles are sensational. The title track which must be one of the greatest rock medleys of all time, the irresistable pair of rockers in "Jet" and "Helen Wheels" and the McCartney concert staple, "Let Me Roll It". All outstanding and really elevate this album above all Wings records.

The rest of the songs are not as well known but equally as listenable.

You have the acoustic beauty of "Bluebird" with great backup vocals by Wings, ets not forget Wings

Then the futuristic "1985" drives this phenomenal album to it's crescendo.

THIS IS A MUST HAVE IN ANY ROCK AND ROLL COLLECTION
