i liked every song on this album but some i loved. examples are blackjack davey, arthur mcbride, little maggie, youre gonna quit me, jim jones, and froggie went a courtin. once again, mr. dylan covered a vast geographical territory of quietly intense emotions. there are songs of sadness - jim jones, stalker warnings - youre gonna quit me, mystically, demonically menacing - blackjack davey, obscure at least to me- historical cheekiness - arthur mcbride. many types of music attract me. i am always pleased when i can discover wonderful what-i-call folk sagas from all parts of the u.s.a. and all parts of the world. and though i didnt hear this album until the early 2000s, it moved me so much that i had to have it. we learned a slightly different version of froggie went a courtin when i was young but i was glad to hear it again. i think ive said enough.

i liked this movie; though it did get to be a bit stretchy, in my opinion, with some special effects (and these are minute) - have done some research on the mythology premise of an 18th angel that was supposed to reincarnate as the new savior in the body of a human (perhaps i got the premise wrong); so far have had no luck with my research - there were a few moments in the movie that i would have expressed differently; on the whole, though, found the premise intriguing - ms. cook was a good choice to portray a young adolescent on the brink of sexual maturity; dealing with an unexpected tragedy and the alluring attentions of unknown persons who would go through heaven and hell to "meet" her, (she has a lovely face) - the wild countryside of that particular site in italy was beautiful and mysterious - loved the devil seducing the young maiden scene with that fantastic horse - christoper mcdonald is underrated - and of course, i am always faithful to, and happy to see mr maximillian schell

"true romance" infused a volatile
mix of failed hopes, love, gangster revenge, redemption, and the promise of new beginnings all in one neat package - with well fleshed out characters doing "impossible" things, played by excellent character actors, both
old and young,an eclectic musical mix, the movie captured a place in my heart when first viewed, and my special tribute is having taped it three times; hey, what can i say? - three times is a charm - the lovely patricia arquette as failed prositute alabama meets the man of her dreams in christian slater, the kung fu movie loving, comic book store clerk "date" clarence whorley - they fall in love, kill her dreadlocked pimp (played by gary oldman),accidentally pick up a bagful of mob owned cocaine, and escape to california in an attempt to sell the drug, encountering a colorful host of characters along the way; with the ghost of elvis protecting them, they make a spectacular escape in the end after surviving a shakespeare worthy hotel shootout between the murky forces of good and evil - as the reader can guess, i love this movie - always have, always will

there was a keen moodiness, surrealism, and a quiet, "building" suspense in this film - the title intrigued me, the subject matter - the eternal struggle to build a "master race" , based on alleged superior ancestry, origins, etc., the whole "eugenics" questiion that humans can't seem to stay away from - this is not the typical "^*#$" atrocity movie; one of my favorite french actors, jean reno, appears as a puzzled, slightly behind the hi-tech times; but quick minded detective, taken out of his usual element to pursue "extremely" unusual murder in an academically elite " and "closed" university environment in northern france (if i'm not mistaken), there are secret experiments, old murders, cloning, new murders to confront, a "twin" mystery , neo-^*#$s; many twists to this movie - mr. reno is balanced with a hot-shot, in your face, hi-tech young detective, and an enigmatic super intelligent, super-physical , super-secretive female student who may or may not have the answer to the riddle of the body hanging from the mountain of ice - this is a disturbing, well thought-out thriller - i'd recommend it to anyone who likes an unconventional thriller

Posted: 10/22/2003A review of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider by Anonymous
i knew that angelina jolie would be the perfect lara croft, tomb raider - with her understated daring, picture perfect mirror image portrayal of the archeologist with not only brains and beauty; but also a conscience - she truly captured and brought 3 dimensional life to the cyber space heroine - i was most impressed with the creative and unusual vision of the movie makers - the exotic locations, the cosmic message that sought an answer to a puzzle that affected the well being of the planet itself - angelina played her role in an understated, yet in your face mode, her british accent was not over the top, her physical prowess was unique (i understand she performed all of her stunts herself), plus she went out blazing and fighting and ready for the next adventure at the end of the movie - all i can say is: loved it, and right on girl !
