But the movie continually bogs down, & the action seemed like an after thought. At the beginning, Nicolas Cage's character is shown as a heartless assasin. But later in the movie, he's going on dates, becoming a mentor...? The movie seemed to drag on, and about halfway through I found myself looking at my watch & thinking, how much longer? But he keeps on running, even after it becomes apparent that it is a very bad idea to do so. He puts his wife in danger, and his refusal to give up creates havoc & danger to those unfortunate enough to be in the area when the psycho Anton Chigurh (who is chasing him to get the money) comes looking for him. Tommy Lee Jones character, Sheriff Ed Tom Bell, is unable to get beyond 'what the world is coming to' enough to actually stop Chigurh. The movie's ending seems out of place with the rest of the picture. After it was over, the audience went totally silent, except one person who said "That has sequel written all over it!". Loved the movie, hated the ending. Was this review helpful? Thru a mix-up, the three are rounded up by the REAL Army to be sent to Iraq. Instead, they are accidentally jettisoned on the flight, ending up in Mexico. It takes them just a little while to realize where they are, and a little more time to understand what they need to do while they are there. Linda Lampinelli is great as Bills (big, mean) wife Connie. Lots of Redneck gags throughout keeps you laughing, along with the bloopers at the end. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Saw III is the weakest sequel yet. The first Saw had that indie feel to it, and had several twists to the plot that were were original and unexpected. It kept you guessing all the way. Saw III was put together with several flashbacks from the first two movies, so viewers end up with scenes that theyve already watched before. Theres more than one game being played at once, and by the time it is all pulled together, you just want it to be OVER. And of course the ending leaves the door open for yet another Saw installment. But it just kind of wanders back and forth between the characters, and never really ties the whole thing together. The scary parts seem as if they are cut out of the first movie and stuck in here and there. There is very little that is new, same demon, same hair, same annoying sound aaaaaaaaaaaaa. Hopefully the ending was not an opening for a third Grudge. Was this review helpful? Its rambling opening, around two cops, Lee Blanchard and Bucky Bleichert, boxing as Fire and Ice, went on so long, I started to believe I was in the wrong theater! I gave it one star because the 40s noir flavor is spot on, and the sets and the clothes are beautiful. But the murder of the Black Dahlia, sadly, is a just a side note. I was looking forward to seeing the actual case of the Black Dahlia unfold during this movie questions answered such as who was she really? What led to her murder? Who were the suspects? The ending, while wrapping up the loose ends, was unbelievable. Unfortunately, I neglected to read all the reviews listed here prior to seeing the movie. Had I known in advance, I would have seen something else. Was this review helpful? The opening scene is hilarious, when Miranda is coming in to the office unexpectedly-and everyone scrambles around in order to be ready. Stanley Tucci (Nigel) is great, along with Emily Blunt (Emily), who very nearly steals the show. The movie glitters with fashion, and high end venues throughout. Meryl Streep is at her very best as Miranda, the demanding boss who rules Runway magazine with an iron hand. The movie depicts the fashion industry as a cutthroat business and shows the pressure that women (and not just models) face regarding their weight as when Nigel says that Anne Hathaways character (Andrea) is fat at a size 6. The ending may be predictable, but the story along the way is worth it. Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 7 users found this helpful This movie couldve been so much better! The futuristic look was great, and the costumes were cool. But, I expected a lot more action. I looked over at my date about halfway thru he was snoozing!!! Save your money. I wouldnt even rent this one. Was this review helpful? Between Nicolas Cage's droning narration and similar scenes (the trophy wife, Sierra Leone, Africa, back to the trophy wife) it felt like a 2+ hour introduction that never really went anywhere. I kept waiting for the movie to really get into the meat of the story, but it never did.
"Yuri" damages every part of his life to engage in these activities, yet shows no emotion until the very end when he recounts the cost. Then it is a just a slight chin quiver as he "fights back tears" over what he has lost. Too little too late. Sadly, that is the tone of the entire movie. Was this review helpful?
