Kon's great attention to real life detail, is exhibited in each of his projects and very much so in Paprika.
This film is loaded with vivid color, surreal lighting effects, and environments that truly explore the depth of existence. Each scene and detail beautifully animated, in a unique way which Kon has really made his signature.
Very adventurous in nature, Paprika is a highly imaginative story about the subconscious. With the high production value and consistency that you've come to expect from today's top animated films.
Audio and visuals work wonderfully together, although the storyline appears far fetched and hard to follow, making it a deeply thought provoking fiction fantasy of grand proportions.
A simple theme describing the core the plot could be stated as What Happens when a dream merges with other dreams becomes uncontrollable and begins seeping into reality? This idea is expanded upon through out the film.
The characters consist of all adult professionals, all of them having a relation to each other and play a significant part in the story. With each of these characters, the creator has managed to avoid stereotypes, and give them each a uniqueness and certain relate ability. Instead of using the straight forward approach of defining Heroes and Villains by way of right vs. wrong, each characters motives are used to determine a more complex organization.
Paprika is overall a rich and intriguing tale that you will need to watch more than once to really grasp and appreciate its meaning, however the harder you try to comprehend its true message, the sooner you'll realize that it's simply open to interpretation.

I enjoyed everything about this film. There was hardly a moment that didn't hold my interest. The stroy had meaning and purpose, it was creative and realistic. I would much love to see it again. It is a real shame that this has to be Jet Li's last martial arts movie, at least he will have a strong and worthy departure. This movie should be enough to please any martial arts fan, it had just about everthing you would expect and more. The acting is done so well that you almost know what the characters are going to say before they speak, and you almost forget your reading subtitles. Two Thumbs up. Was this review helpful? Rocky stays true to his character, and amidst hard times remains consistently generous and thoughtful. This film takes you back and is most comparable to the 1st Rocky and his humble beginngs, his struggle to survive on the harsh streets. This movie carries with it the realistic drama of everyday life and the intense action of a physical explosion. With only a few characters missing from the previous films, other characters fill in a larger role.
Rocky's opponent however lacks in personality and presence when compared to every other challenger in Rocky's past. This part should have been rewritten and recasted. The theme of this story comes straight from the main character's mouth when he say's Was this review helpful? It was a violent entourage of epic proportions. A film which should satisfy even the most blood thirsty of all fans. This movie is testosterone dripping, blood spilling head slicing, Sword swinging, spear chucking, shield bashing, heart pounding, muscle bulging, crowd roaring, teeth grinding, fist clenching, over the top, excitement. Take the biggest star in Hollywood, put him in a mega action blockbuster, with Abrams directing, costarring a man who won the award for best actor, and this is what you get, a movie that rocks the box-office and blows audiences away. MI3 delivers the bang in a big way, Tom Cruise gives his top quality performance. The effects, the story, the action, the music, everything is so intense. Way better than your average action flick. MI3 the best installment yet, puts you right in the danger zone and thrills you again and again. You will believe the main characters emotion, you will believe the egotistic motivation of the villian. You won’t be able to believe the high risk over the top stunts. You might even discover that being bored during this film is simply...impossible. Was this review helpful? The graphics were still cartoonish looking, it very much reminded me of the incredibles. Some of the few complaints I have would be, that the turtle lair was too lit up, considering there in a dank tunnel in the ground there was way too much lighting. Splinter, who by the way had no robot limbs, ( contrary to what others might tell you ) wasn't the least bit old looking. His eyes were of a newborn and his fur perfectly combed and fluffy. Not a single wrinkle in his face or a speck of dirt on his clothes. April was freakishly skinny, to the point of making Barbie jealous.
Guess that goes along with the cartoonish style they were going for but..its a bit much. The animation was great from my perspective, plenty of action. Can't say I disliked anything about the movie except that...Donatello had basically no role whatsoever. You barely even notice he's here. Still I have to recommend it to anyone that enjoys ass kicking animation. Was this review helpful? The movie goes straight downhill from the beginning, becoming more and more predictably ideal. The stereotypes just keep coming and coming. The characters are so hardcore stereotypical it becomes enduring to watch them progress into happy go lucky boys and girls. Despite not being labeled as a Disney film, it still offers the same formulaic and routine family scenario. Originality is really suffering in Hollywood, and this is another example. Hey anybody remember the classic Natl Lampoons Vacation? about 20 sumthing years ago? It was way more funny back then. I think this film is basically an average family, comedy. It's a shame that Robin Williams' superior acting talent is used up on continuous movies that are sunshine and lollipops. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 6/4/2007A review of Eragon by IeatMovies Eragon, The title of the movie remains the same as the main character, how unoriginal. What kind of name is that for a boy anyhow? Change 1 letter and you have the word dragon. I think we have a case of laziness on the part of the writer. This feels like every story we have heard since time began. Is it quite simply just another excuse to display breathtaking visuals? Which the film relies heavily upon. Loaded with clichés, uneventful scenes, and forgettable characters. The main focus of the movie should be the involvement of the dragon in the plot; however more emphasis is placed upon the boy, who fails all of our expectations of a charismatic, independent, virtuoso.
Thankfully the splendid design and animation of Sepheira captures the imagination and distracts from all that is lacking. This movie is a poor attempt at a fantasy of epic proportions, leaves the viewer dissatisfied, and uninspired, despite how stunning the dragon figure may appear. Still an entertaining excursion. What was supposed to be a guilt free teen comedy turned into a soap opera that would not relent. Why go to a movie to see painful bickering and stressful real life situations? The film spent more time in loathing and self regret than cracking jokes or anything else. It was at times difficult to watch and unsettling. The acting talent was apparent throughout the length of the film. I felt the actors put allot of effort and emotion into each scene, although at times they were overacting. The acting really was what determined the mood, and rightfully so. Lines were well delivered but not well received, because the dialogue just wasn't memorable or in any way remarkable. A decent cast of B grade talent. Typecasting was too obvious; we've seen the actors play extremely similar types in the past. The movie begins to change its mood from comedic to empathetic much too soon. It was a story you had to really suffer through to get to any of the jackass college humor you expect to see. I would think it hard for anyone who has never shared the experience of having a baby to enjoy this film. Many of the characters seemed out of place and unimportant. There were scenes that really should have been cut out or cut down due to irrelevance.
I can't really determine who this movie is supposed to appeal to. Younger crowds will be repelled by the long exaggerated life lesson, and adults will be turned away by the foul language, drug usage and perverted sexuality. If this is your thing, your better off staying home on a weekday afternoon, and sitting down to watch the next chapter of that ridiculous soap opera, while the rest of society is busy working.
I think for the most part the movie was on par with the subject matter, but this did not make for a very entertaing, and fun filled experience. Was this review helpful? Not to mention a couple other hundred types of creatures that make the world go round, this movie is just for you my friends. Clerks 2 turns vulgarity and obscenity into an art form reaching new heights of verbal and physical creativity. Its so offensive at times that you cant possibly take it seriously. if you wish you could go back and relive your high school or college experience jackassing around with your best buds, then your gonna like what you see here. The cast of offbeat misfit characters dish out a mind bending tale of drama, comedy, romance, and all out absurdity. Everyones favorite jersey boys the drug dealin duo Jay and Silent Bob are back, in the sequel to their big screen debut. Jay and Bob havent missed a beat and are back chillin in full swing. If youre looking for a comedy that will remind you that even though your life may , there are plenty of other unlucky bastards that suffer just as bad if not worse and through it all still manage to get some enjoyment, then look no further. You will soon forget about the terrible day you had and learn to laugh at lifes awkwardness. The jokes are delivered fantastically and keep rolling through out the film constantly knocking the audience back with outlandish behavior. Like a disturbingly erotic donkey show, you wont be able to turn away or forget what you witness, and more importantly you wont want to forget.
Goodbye horses. Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 5 users found this helpful Posted: 7/30/2004A review of Spider-Man 2 by IeatMovies What was going on? Ya know this was supposed to be a superhero super action movie, but what you got in the duration of the film was alot of unecessary dialouge. Moping characters and uninteresting everyday scenes cause you to forget your watching Spiderman. Instead what you're seeing is a lackluster soap opera that leaves you begging for some action. The repetition of long awkward scenes with tobey, will put you to sleep. The character's problems seem nothing short of boring and it makes you ask whats wrong with theese people that they cant get their lifes back on track. It becomes depressing seeing the main character fail to take his head out of the dumpster. I mean how much of a loser can he be, before the audience looses all respect and interest? The actor playing the villian seems a bit out of character and watching his saggy naked chest really tends to discredit him as a threat. Why couldnt they cover that up with some cool metalic body armor? The story tries to follow the comic book but fails to introduce the villian properly as Peter's old science instructor. Alot happens in this movie to change relationships between characters and zooms through the timeline of events in the comic in a hurry. However, the metalic arms of the villian are extra cool and the action and fight sequences are awesome to behold. You will be dazzled by the stunts and special effects. If anything go see this movie for the few action sequences and the stunning look and sound of doc ock. Don't expect too much out of the story because you will be dissapointed.Near the end you are expecting a big pick me up turning point for spidey, and you can predict what is going to happen, but it never does and you are left wondering what was that about? Overall this movie barely out shines the first and fails to live up to the hype and expectations of spidey fans, but still a good fun film. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-11 of 11 Per Page |
