I love Zoolander and Old School, theyre dumb but they work. My 40 year old boss said this flick was better than Old School, so I thought this had to be hilarious... are you kidding me??? Just about all the funny parts in this movie were so forced and predictable that I didnt even laugh. Foul mouthed granny and gay goth brother... uh, are you guys even trying? They thought that Wilson and Vaughn were funny so putting them in a movie together automatically makes the flick funny. Not the case. Just like Dodgeball (also a no-laugher). Everyone raved about this movie, and like when the Governator was elected or when Bush was reelected, this makes me lose a little more faith in the intelligence of the average American. DO NOT SEEPosted: 1/14/2004A review of House of Sand and Fog by chips992 I have never walked out of a movie, and unfortunately HoSF is no exception. But I really regret giving this flick the benefit of the doubt.<br><br>The best words to describe this movie are in the neighborhood of: moronic, uninspired, transparent and predictable. Any cinematic devices used in this movie were so contrived and simple that they give the viewer no credit. The script is incredibly weak (lots of "give me a $#@$*&-ing break" lines). Character development is very poorly done; I'm sure every Van Damme movie bests HoSF in this regard. The police officer cannot act to save his life and Ben Kingsley is obnoxious as hell when he repeats himself ad naseum (you're a long way from Ghandi, buddy). ETC, ETC, ETC...<br><br>I could go on and on, but what I'm trying to convey is simple: this movie really is terrible. If you appreciate artsy flicks (I do), you still shouldn't see this movie b/c you will be sorely disappointed. If you read this review and proceed to see this movie, you are clearly a complete moron and natural selection will no doubt weed you out of existence in due time.
