Posted: 5/30/2004A review of Requiem for a Dream by ThisLilly
after reading the reviews i was thinking this would be a good movie. unfortunately i was sadly disappointed. good acting for the most part, but little in the line of "real" character development and plot. sure, we know these people have addiction problems but the director fails to fully illustrate (via a subcontext/subplot) how society traps and forces them into it. the movie really goes nowhere even with it's main plot. it does have a good orcheastral/industrial musical score but other than that the movie was really lacking. maybe it was because the director was trying to spread the story to thin, because of all the characters. other than some of the shock treatment this movie serves no utility. to make matters worse the movie has an uneventful and predictable ending. unfortunately like so many books turned into movies, the movie doesn't do Reqiuem for a Dream justice. so i advise you to just read the book.

Mix all the elements of grunge music. Fuse it with elements of 60s psychedillia, the good parts of 70s/80s punk and you get the Screaming Trees. THE MOST UNDERATED GRUNGE BAND. The vocals are great not to mention just the overall sound of the album. If you're willing to take a chance and stray from coporate grunge rock, buy this album and Screaming's Trees Sweet Oblivion.
