I'm not sure if this was supposed to be a comedy or a horror flick, yet the plot was predictable every step of the way. The acting was horrible, but without any big names in the cast that didn't surprise me. There were constant jump scenes which anybody listening should have expected by the overuse of suspense background music, and when it wasn't that, the movie was scored to crappy emo music. You'd think somebody would have had the sense for what to do with a phone.
If you're one for eye candy, you'll love the son's girlfriend who, aside from at the beginning of the movie, apparently seems to live her entire life wearing only underwear or bikinis. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful I saw this movie today after a few previews and hearing it being compared to Office Space. While the movie certainly had it's funny moments and was somewhat entertaining, it's nowhere near a cult classic. The slapstick parts of the movie were hilarious, but they were too few and the story itself felt a little too slow lacking dynamic. Was this review helpful? And you take their combos and mate it with Pleasantville. Then you take that concoction and shake it up with a little bit of Frequency, Donnie Darko, and Deja Vu and pour it over some The Family Man spiced with Primer and Slaughterhouse Five. And while that's all setting, you toss together some Me, Myself, and I with Idiocracy and pour it over. Throw in a little It's A Wonderful Life to give it some romance and then finally you sprinkle just a tiny tiny dash of the Terminator over it and you get this movie.
Confusing yes... but then again so were most of the people talking to one another after watching this. The movie is rather slow and you could almost predict what was going to happen and question why certains things did or did not occur in the movie. However is your girlfriend is into both chickflicks and sci-fi movies, you prry should take her to see this movie. Was this review helpful? This is a great movie, if you can get past the first 20 mintues. The shaky camera work and the documentary thing they did with the peope during the first 20 minutes and occasionally throughout and at the end of the movie was extremely annoying and pointless. It was terrible. Also I think they could have gotten sombody with more acting experience for the protagonist. Sharlto Copley, while little known in the USA, is a much better producer than actor.
However, if you can bear with this, the story line completely makes up for it. This is not a typical alien movie, it took you somewhere different and gave character to the aliens, but not in a lame "Contact" or "Close Encounters of The Third Kind" type of way. This movie was compelling and really makes you think. The movie takes place in Johannesburg, a real place and the largest city in South Africa. Was this review helpful? The humor of course is very raunching with the same great humor from Elizabeth Banks and Seth Rogan as you saw from them in the 40 Year Old Virgin. Also Jeff Anderson and Jason Mewes who played Randel and Jay in the Clerks movies had some very funny roles along with the rest of the cast. This is not an intellectial film, it's just one to have a good time with. And of course, this one is not for the kids, expect the same lewd scenes that you saw from films like the American Pie series. Was this review helpful? I liked that MNS was creative in this movie and did something a little different with this one.
However, the acting really wasn't that good, (maybe that's why I don't get terrified by horror flicks, because so many of them have such bad acting makes things totally unbelievable), and the whole movie was really just... ridiculous. ***SPOILER*** Seriously, killer tree spores are supposed to scare us. This is worse than The Ruins with its killer vines. In every scene where the wind was blowing, I found the waving grasses and rushling leaves, well, quite calming and relaxing, not at all scary. ***SPOILER***
Although I find it pretty sick that people can get off watching people die, I actually found all the random suicides in this movie rather entertaining, just like everyone else in the movie. It was just so ridiculous! The whole movie went from sad, hilarious, sad, hilarious, etc. and the whole transition between scenes made the whole story line seem forced. Also, expect a Lord of the Rings type of ending here, it goes on and on. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 6/20/2008A review of The Incredible Hulk by frostieman85 They totally put the Hulk movie before this under the bus. But no worries, in the first ten minutes of this new movie, during the opening credits, they bring you completely up to par on how he became the Hulk (which is great because nobody saw the piece of crap they made before this anyways).
This one however was amazing, everything a super hero movie is meant to be. Great story line, excellent cast, and full of action. Kept me interested the whole time I was sitting in the theater. If you enjoyed Iron Man, then you will most certainly love this one! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 6/3/2008A review of Cube Zero by frostierides These movies blow. Bad acting, no real suspense, ridiculous plot. An attempt to sound sophisticated, when the whole idea is surprisingly simple. Interesting concept, but the Cube movies do not come even close to satisfying. A great low budget film is rare, and Cube Zero is definitely not one of them. Was this review helpful? As earlier said, there was little plot, the beginning was slow going and stretched out before anything exciting happened, and the main characters made every wrong move possible. The movie was extremely predictable from beginning to end and highly unrealistic.
Liv Tyler, Scott Speedman, and Glenn Howerton all had great talent but it was wasted on such a horrible movie. The movie made everyone in the theather jump at the first few appearances of the strangers, but the cheap thrills got real old real fast.
And did anyone else find one of the strangers as having a striking resemblance of betty boop gone physco. Was this review helpful? The whole setting was amazing, black and white with accents of color. I like how they tied three different story lines into one great movie. The cast did an amazing and the girls in the movie are just as beautiful. Be warned though, this movie isn't R-rated for nothing. Do not take little kids to this movie. Was this review helpful?
