I really only want to see this movie so I can watch the Twins go to work on Umbridge, (may she be lost in a centaur herd forever). I am disappointed that Michael Gambon has retained the role of Prof. DD, as so far he has been a complete disaster imo and no credit to the part. Hopefully he will have done his homework this time, and actually put some effort into maintaining Sir Richard Harriss fantastic portrayal (may he RIP) instead of simply showing up to just collect a paycheck. I am hopeful that Dobby and Kreacher will be portrayed and not dropped. I cant wait to see Tonks and her bright pink hair and ever changing facial features.. HAHA, you go girl.

Bette Davis makes a strong mother/crone figure in this made for TV movie. Like so many of her films, she is powerful to watch, even though the vehicle which conveys her is weak. A good mystery incorporating itself with the feminism of the era, the end though predictable is satisfying. It's a privilige to watch this Queen of Cinema in a role where the make up artists don't hide and destroy the last vestiges of a beautiful lady, but rather re-aquaint you with a grace and dignity that makes a true movie star.

Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins give fantastic perfomances. Clancy Brown of "Highlander" fame contributes to the brutality that adds to the reality of the film. The calm practical voice of Freeman keeps you enthralled throughout the movie. Supporting cast do their jobs helping the illusion of what it must be like on the inside of a 1940's prison. Steven King who wrote the short novella must surely be proud. Good work for a man as young as he was.

An excellent choice to watch at any time. The extended version is even better. The dialogue is snappy, the entire cast have a dynamic relationship. You will laugh through your tears. A must see if you by some quirk in life haven't already. The soundtrack is a great mix, the action and effects believeable, all in all, a great flick. This is one you buy with a back up for when you use up the first 500 viewings.

The music is what really defines this movie as a cult masterpiece, eerie and haunting, it lingers on in your mind long after the movie is over. Amy Irving gives a great performance as the young Gillian who is looking for her soulmate, Robin, who is played by Andrew Stevens. You really have to have read the book to understand the subtlety of their relationship. If you want to see a really young Darryl Hannah, you catch a quickie of her here. The implication of an Agency that doesn't exist (The Shop) smacks of Steven King's "Firestarter". A good weekend movie if you just want to laze around, pair it up with "Scanners" and some banana splits.

Touching on an unpleasant subject, this movie supposedly based on true events, is indeed a sleeper in the true sense of the word. A great movie, the performances given by DeNiro, Hoffman, Affleck, were superb. It captures your attention from the beginning. A story of four boys who pull a stupid prank and pay dearly for it will tug at your heartstrings like few movies do. Kevin Bacon gives a sinister portrayal which is far and away from the "Footloose" character which brought him to fame. The casting of the supporting actors was extremely well done, they actually look like someone you would expect to see living in Hell's Kitchen. If this isn't based on real life events, it could very easily have been so. It has that true ring to it that not many movies of this type do. And if you haven't read "The Counte of Monte Cristo", this film will make you want to dust off your library.

A great movie for kids, and not too bad if you are a parent who has to watch. Chris Lambert displays a wicked sense of humor and although he is not the star he is a scene stealer when present. This movie reminds me a little of "Big Trouble in Little China" starring Kurt Russell. It's tongue in cheek attitude is refreshing and while you may not rush out to buy the video game, it would make a great rental for those rained out baseball days when it takes a hour for pizza delivery. The music is energetic and the characters are fun.

This is one of my favorites. It has a very young Jack Nicholson, a not so young Peter Lorre, an ancient Boris Karloff, and the never aging Vincent Price. Hazel Court is still enchanting. A great adaption of the unforgettable Edgar Allen Poe's poem, Roger Corman takes you on a trip that is full of mystery and magic. I would imagine that Roger Zelazny's Changeling series was somewhat based on this movie. A fantastic movie to watch with your kids on Halloween, or a rainy weekend. Peter Lorre is hysterically funny and Vincent Price is outrageous as the straight man. A must see for anyone who loves old movies.

Vampire movies are usually so predictable that when one is not, it really stands out. This is that one movie. Not as creepy as "Salem's Lot" or as frightnening as "Vamp", it has some of that tongue in cheek humor that made "Dusk Til Dawn" a cult classic. An epic story of a "Wannabe" who meets the "Real Mccoy", it keeps you on the edge of your seat and the ending is definitely worth waiting for. If you are doing a vampire movie night, this is one you certainly want to include on your list.

The best way to describe this movie is cute. It smacks of "Much ado about nothing". The cast is overblown, but they do put in a good effort. Luckily, the movie moves pretty fast and there are some funny scenes. The dialogue is what keeps the movie at a tolerable level, Ayre Gross is as always, adorable anyway. A good early Saturday morning movie if there is nothing else on to watch.

This is what movie making should be all about. It has a fantastic story, based on real events with excellent actors who bring it to life. Told from a child's point of view, there is a freshness and humanity that as adults often dissappears later in life. A definite must see, you will enjoy every minute and then probably, watch it over again. The acting is powerful yet not overpowering, Ben Kingsley once again gives a wonderful performance without stealing the story. Highly recommend it for all ages, there's something for everyone. Don't move until you can see it.

Tom Hanks gives yet another superb portrayal as a prison guard with heart. An quietly emotional movie, it hits all avenues of justice. The music score is subtle, the acting is believable, Micheal Clark Duncan (Armageddon & Daredevil) does a fantastic job as a wrongly convicted killer/rapist. You feel sorry for him as soon as his character is introduced unlike others who you dislike as soon as you see them. All in all, one you definitely want to add to your DVD library. It's one of those "gonna lay on the couch today and watch a good movie" movies.

If you need or want a good scare without the gore, this is the movie for you. David Soul, (Starsky and Hutch fame),plays a semi-successful writer who comes back to his hometown to confront his childhood fears. The sinister role of European businessman, Striker, is played convincingly by James Mason who has other plans for the town. If all vampire movies were really this scary and well made, no one would ever go out after dark again. I highly recommend it, the acting on all levels is great, the music is spooky, the make up of the vampires is creepy, a definite Halloween movie classic. But like reading the book, you really only want to do it during the day.

A brutal movie, it slams your senses with the quick action and street smart dialogue. Denzel gives a good performance of a vice cop who slid over the edge and justifies to himself that he really didn't. Ethan Hawke who plays the rookie who just wants to make good manages a convincing portrayal of innocence and belief in the good will of men. Like piano keys, they go well together. It's a little extreme but the ending justifies the means. A good flick, but not one you watch with the kids. Definitely a movie for guys or if you are feeling rowdy.

Like a good fisherman, this movie ensnares you quietly. The music captures the essence of the northern seas, haunting and lonely. Kevin Spacey is heartbreaking as an isolated man whose life has no direction until he meets Cate Blanchette who uses, abuses and then loses him. Judi Dench gives a solid performance as his bitter aunt whose own life has not been pleasant either. Julianne Moore is refreshing and a good counter for both of the moody "Quoyles". Scott Glenn's role as the owner of the newspaper is taciturn and humorous by turn. This is one of those movies that the more often you see it, the more you like it. The tone of it reminds me of "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir",played by Gene Tierney and Rex Harrison
