Sure it has some anti-Christian values, but people should realize it's just a fantasy movie. A lot of stories nowadays get turned into movies, and this is no exception. I have not read the book itself until after I saw it, but the movie placed everything into perspective. I especially like the idea of having one's soul in animal form outside their body, like an animal spirit. The graphics and CGI were good, the acting was great, and it left me wanting to see the next two when they come out.
People were apprehensive about seeing other book-turned-movies like 'Harry Potter' and 'Lord of the Rings', but as we've seen prior to this movie, it all turned out good in the end. Give this movie a chance. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful First things first. To all those who deem this movie to be historically inaccurate, please go to the nearest library and get a non-fictional book to read. Leave everyone else alone to make their own judgement, okay? Also, to those who see any political inuendos and 'conspiracy' subjects, try running for office, or please be silent. It's a movie, and let's leave it at that. Thanks.
Second: I went and saw this movie with my husband when it first came out, and aside from my misgivings at first, I thought it was a well-done movie; Gerard Butler had an excellent part (my husband is still quoting lines from the movie to this day; he's in the Coast Guard so that adds to the drama. :P ) It's about one of the most crutial battles in ancient history, and how democracy was started pretty much. Granted, battles are meant to be bloody and gory and harsh on the eyes, but that's where the special effects really shine. If one were to look at the documentaries (saw an HBO special about this), Gerard and his 300 men trained to work as a team, making that portion more realistic, and true to Spartan tradition. I read the graphic novel, and I have to admit, adding the queen's involvement in the movie was a nice touch here; even women can be as tough as men...and it shows.
All in all, I was highly impressed at Frank Miller's latest piece of work, and am looking forward to other movies he'll make in the future. I would recommend seeing this movie, or getting it on DVD when it's released. Was this review helpful? I pretty much saw Nicholas Cage in National Treasure, and thought he was decent in that. As for Ghost Rider...he was AWESOME! The humor was unexpected but decently delivered, action was good, the transformations were SICK (in a good way), and the delivery of the storyline was something even I understood Wanting to do everything in your power to save those you care about...even sacrifice your own life or soul to do it.
I would highly recommend this movie to anyone, comic fan or not. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful I never read Eragon or Eldest. But I went and saw the movie at a friends insistance, in fact, he went and watched it with me. I admit, the movie WAS good, despite what the critics thought about it.
But for everyone else, PLEASE, PLEASE do NOT say you hate a movie just because it doesnt go word for word by the book! Come on, are you going to say the same thing about the Harry Potter movies? Or the Lord of the Rings movies, for that matter? If they did the entire Eragon book into the movie, it would have taken at least three hours if not more, and then you people would have griped that it was too long!
Watch the movie, THEN make your decision. And dont base your opinions on what you have read or anything like that...judge it by the MOVIE itself, NOT by the book. Isnt that what you wanted to see anyway? If you wanted to read the book, then go home and read the book. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-4 of 4 Per Page |
