The mentalist?!?! That show is WAY too clean, no gross dirty streets, and no real dysfunctional characters. It's a house wannabe. I am uber smart and I solve crimes, and I'm sexy to boot. BLAHHH. EVERY genius is lacking in some other areas, usually socially. An all the other "characters" in the show....well I cant comment on them, no one knows who they are. Fringe is full of great characters with real and "sci-fi" problems. Making them interesting and relateable. The genius of this show is that everyone in it has their own genius, something they are good at. Fringe is easily the BEST new show this year. The mentalist throws all of the nice things together like a bucket of candy. Hes good looking, charming, hes a "good" guy. No grey areas, because we don't want to offend our sensitive(stupid) audience. Grow up and stop watching the "bowl of candy" shows, and watch something that makes you feel unsafe. But because of so-so acting and a bad casting job, this show has gotten very dull. the math genius is too much of a nice guy...not damaged enough to be interesting. If you want to see a great show with a truely unique and interesting genius character...WATCH FRINGE. All people that are great at one thing tend to %&*^ at something else. Genius' tend to be socially inept, and upset people they hang around. Humans tend to even out...good at one thing terrible at something else. Charlie is a bit of a nerd, but not anywhere near as messed up as he should be. His older friend that spends time in a monk retreat is far more interesting than the star of the show. This has always been one of those "safe" shows(cbs' favorite type). Everything goes back to normal in the end and the characters NEVER really change or grow. Was this review helpful? The networks need to do one thing....let a show run a full season(like studio 60...another great show) that way they at least can tie up some loose ends. As for us viewers...we need to help promote good shows, and go to other bad shows and convince all of the other idiots not to watch them. Was this review helpful? It's all about showing some skin and the left side of heratios face. He's too cool for us to see the other side. The stories and characters are NOTHING compared to other great charaters like, house, grisham, or any of the characters on fringe. No character in this show feels even remotely real.
