The advertising says "the first movie this year worthy of an Academy Award nomination." Unless there is a new category for advertising hyperbole, forget an Academy Award. The best that can be said about this film is that Hillary Swank looks enough like Ms. Earhart to be her sister (removed by three or four generations). Her acting is uninspired and boring. She has proven herself to be better than she demonstrates in this empty sixth grade history lesson. Richard Gere's attempt at Maine accent is both unconvincing and unprofessional Ewan McGregor appears not to have read the script e before going on camera. This film completely lacks human interest. Judging by the lack of reaction in the almost empty theater on opening day I would guess that most of the audience was also disappointed. Don't waste your time or money. You already know the whole story. Wait for the DVD it will be available shortly.

Slow moving, boring, and predictable. My wife fell asleep and she never falls asleep in a theater. I won't reveal the "suprise" ending but to say that it defies even the suspension of disbelief. Just remember that Samir has just visited 30 people in 30 states. Save your money. This is one of the 10 worst movies this year.

If you can ignore the blatant propaganda and preaching, this is a tight, well paced film. Hackman's acting is magnificent. Along with Sean Penn from Mystic River he should get an oscar nomination. John Cusack believable in his part and Hoffman falls short of his best effort. This is a must see five star story.
