I was still in Jr. High in San Francisco back then and heard about this amazing festivity with Big Names such as The Who, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix...
I must say it didn't bring me back to what I have as memory of 1968, but the plots and the inter-relationships between the main character and his groovy parents would probably fit in in today first generation immigrant American family as well. It also depicts what every American family with young adult is going through in 2009, the contradictions between a child and their parents did not change in 40 years.
The world at large, and the American social scenes have changed, but not the underlying relationships between the younger generations and their culturally indifferent parents. Freedom, morality, political correctness and social responsibilities in a fast changing world, and also America's foreign war, make younger viewers more tangible in relating to the world as depicted in "Taking Woodstock" back in 1968, almost an utopia that never was! But this is a fake, these two guys can get any budget for a major production with famous actors, actresses.
When the film makers had to use excessive blood and violence to make the movie more interesting, the movie itself is not worth to see, any way. Was this review helpful? But the plots, sound track, scenary in the movie are quite refreshing, unlike grindhouse and other sex, violence, blood oriented films which will cause indigestion or vomit.
Very pleasant story telling on big screen, bring a date. Was this review helpful? The pace is much too slow to capture a younger audience. The plot, which starts out OK as a mystery, but ends with disappointment and predictable outcomes.
Nichalas Cage is good in the film, but all other supporting actors and actresses didnt do much to make the film more interesting, at least for a younger audiences anyway.
The female dominance society, which the film depicts is probably the only hook from this otherwise dull rendition of the original master piece. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-4 of 4 Per Page |
