I mean he did catch the perfectionist detail Reznor puts into his work and gives him credit where credit is due but to say that Reznors lyrics are juvenile is plain wrong. What sets this album apart from his others is maturity in his lyrics. Songs like You Know what u Are? and Only deal with coming to grips with two sides of his personality and choosing the less destructive of the two, a far cry from Mr. Self-destruction in The Downward Spiral days. With Teeth (my personal favorite song) is a well crafted song deminstrating the suductivness of addiction. And lets not forget Right Where it Belongs showing us how to look deep within ourselves to see if we are realy who we think we are. These arent words of an urgent teenager trapped inside a 40 year olds body rather of a more humble Trent Reznor. This is an Excellent album with few flaws, it is a little commercial for NIN but still original. I give it 4 stars and is the second best NIN album of all time falling short of being a masterpiece like The Downward Spiral. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-1 of 1 Per Page |
