What can't Johnny Depp do? His versatility never fails to astonish me. Teamed with Helena Bonham Carter (our favourite British actress) and Alan Rickman, Timothy Spall et al, he once again excels in another 'quirky' role. Our only compalint was the blood spilling, when I had to constantly close my eyes. Otherwise, we really enjoyed this very different film. Not being Sondheim fans we were not aware of the cutting of some of the songs, but we certainly enjoyed the movie for its entertainment value. After some of the recent disasters we have paid good money to detest, this came as a welcome relief - and No, we are not fans of the horror genre.

If you enjoy the foulest of foul language uttered in almost every sentance, so much mumbling by Casey Affleck (apart from when he is mouthing obscenities), a distorted plot line, and a bad directing job, then this is the movie for you! What can Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris, two of America's finest actors, have been thinking, when they agreed to participate in this ghastly film? I fidgeted throughout the movie and kept trying to see the time by my watch, I wanted to get out of there so much. Wish I had said so to my husband, who was feeling the same way. A very tiny audience - around 10 people - two of whom got up and left after suffering 20 minutes of it. No more Ben Affleck movies for us. A total waste of time and money - all to hear offensive language and witness bad acting by the 'star'. No more movies connected with Ben Affleck for us.

After seeing the ghastly "Gone Baby Gone' we were ready to never set foot inside another cinema. However, after reading the story line I urged my family to see this, and we were so uplifted by this absolutely wonderful film. Why are there not more movies like this, instead of the disaster mentioned above?

Absolutely the worst film we have seen this year. The middle part was so boring people actually left the auditorium. The whole thing just dragged on and on and on... The 1957 version was brilliant compared to this rubbish. How a man with one foot can run like mad, keeping hold (not literally) of his prisoner whilst firing away with one hand using a rifle and mowing people down everywhere defies even the most active imagination. Peter Fonda's instant recovery after having a bullet dug out of his stomach was laughable if it wasn't so stupid. This is a perfect example of why we should ignore critics' reviews!
