To begin, the songs are much better when seen live. Also, the movie only has some of the songs from the stage version. The songs that were left out are some of the best songs in the entire play. The movie was a semi-good adaption, but it can never compare to the real show. Rent is just a musical that would never make a good movie without changing it too much.
