To those who made the complaint that "you can't connect with the characte, or youhave no sympathy for the characters". If you've ever met a "meth-head" you'd understand. If you do meth more than a few time you're going to get "hooked", so now how much sympathy should you have for a person you is willingly using stuff that is absolutly toxic and unlike some drugs will actually leave your brain like a fried egg( remember: this is your brain on drugs commercial?). Thus stated, you're not supposed to feel sad for these people because they are willingly throughing their lives away. On a different note, the character played by the guy from Rushmore is in a movie "Slackers",and plays a character obsessed with getting his love intrest in a "little locked room". Now Slackers wasn't very good, but this little inside joke makes it hilarious.

Posted: 2/16/2004A review of Black Hawk Down by Lewis308
I saw this movie opening weekend with my mother, who normally is one of the most squimish movie goers around. I have an insatiable bloodlust when it comes to movies. So I was shocked to hear from her that she too loved this film. My father who is for lack of a better term a hippy, also loves this movie! This is one of the best war-films to date with out a DOUBT! Now I like it for the action(a very superficial thing), but it has far more than action. It is a gripping tail of soldiers who for the most part are trying to do good(we all know that some soldiers are fairly disreputable). The movie does a effective job of showing you the horrors of war. As with "Saving Private Ryan" at the end of this film(for the first viewing atleast)you really aren't ready for anymore violence.

This would have been so much better had they shown the robbery. I know part of the movies appeal is that they don't show what happened, but I would do unspeakable deeds to get this movie released with an added bank scene. MORE VIOLENCE NEEDED!

This movie is alot better than it looks. Nothing new or original but it is well done. If you are a fan of the genre check it out, there is worse out there!

Posted: 2/12/2004A review of Intacto by Lewis308
Intacto is one of the best thrillers I've seen in a very long time. One problem is that the subtitles (some of the movie is english most spanish) don't capture the full meaning of the spanish, which they never do in any movie. Not an "action" movie by my standards, but there is violence.<br>Although labeled as a thriller or drama, the supernatural element of "luck" is extremely creative, considering most movies with anything remotely supernatural these days are laced with special effects. From where I'm sitting, this movie should have won awards or something! A breathe of fresh air! I really can't say enough to express how I feel, if you can handle a movie with a complex story line and great cinematography this is for you. I could re-watch this one several times just to analyze the symbolism

Posted: 2/17/2004A review of Tears of the Sun by Lewis308
This movie is not as good as most people are saying. The final scene in which noone but bad guys get hit and the "good guys" are right out in the open. Faky, not even close to being realistic, as for all those who say it is, I'd prefer the opinion of a combat vet. It was a okay action movie though.

Posted: 4/27/2004A review of The Punisher by Lewis308
"the movie begins with killing and ends with killing"...Well Duh! It's the Punisher, what were you looking for? If you are going to see this movie expect some violence. My only problem was that the body count wasn't high enough! If you want a movie that is more about emotions and character motivation go looking somewhere else. I'm so tired of complaining "this movie was to violent" that's like be complaining that a Dinsey cartoon wasn't serious enough. Do me a favor if you don't like an ACTION movie cause it's violent or that what you just saw just couldn't happen in real life, GO SEE A PLAY! Let me enjoy some good old-fashioned ULTRA-VIOLENCE! Mind your own genre and I'll stick to mine! See this movie if you like action!

I rented this hoping I would see a good old fashion good guy vs. bad guy, honor/redemption thru violence type of film. Give me back my dream world! I want to curle up and hide now! This is not a movie for people who either: want to have a good time or those who can't deal with real concepts. This is one of the most tragic movies I've ever seen. I don't usually cry or even come close when I watch movies. I had tears in my eyes for 3/4's of this one. It really helps you understand how awful wars, especially religous wars, really are. I wish there was some way to avenge those people, which of course would defeat the moral of the story. A great film nontheless
