The Windtalker had nothing good to say about the movie other than the war scenes were realistic (i.e. blood, guts and bullets). But I rented it anyway thinking Nicholas Cage couldn't possibly be as arogant and opinionated as he appeared on Larry King... afterall his performance in Moonstruck was so sensitive and charming.
The movie Windtalkers unfortunatley was abysmal. It had all the the ingredients to be great or at the least interesting, but it could not escape the bad writing, the one dimensional characters and the Hollywood revisionist history. Normally a fine actor Nickolas Cage maintained a pained expression throughout the movie. I was hoping he would take a bullet early and end his misery. The movie tried to overcome these shortcomings by the endless killing of Japs and Yanks....oh the blood and guts. It was a shame to waste such a good cast in such a sorry war movie.
