How exactly did Sam's dad die in an earthquake? Was Sam really that abused by her stepmother? She was called 'Diner Girl'; was she the only one her age with a job? And isn't a Prince Charming unusual in such a modern setting? I think the attention-grabbing thing about the film was Hilary Duff (a very popular actress for young girls) being cast in the film. It has a great plot and acting is very good. Hayden Panettiere - Sheryl Yoast, is cute as a huge fan of football. Denzel Washington is the perfect portrayal of tough Coach Herman Boone. It has a whole plot, but I wouldn't recommend it for young, immature children because of various curse words and some violence. The end was a bit emotional. Ali MacGraw is good as the bookwormish Jennifer, though I don't think she's really professional with music. Ryan O'Neal is great as the rich, handsome Oliver. The film is good for one viewing, but it becomes a little bland the next. And if you know the ending before you watch the film, the beginning and middle of the movie is going to be a long one. There are emotional parts and most actors worked well with fitting into that particular time period. Drew Barrymore makes the perfect Cinderella, though she is a little too modern.
