I really don't remember seeing it the first time around which could be a good thing. The special effects were pretty good and the movie was fast paced and never dull. I love the Rock and AnnaSophia Robb is absolutely wonderful. The UFO convention was fun and my son enjoyed all the Star Wars wannabes. All in all, a truly enjoyable move. As for a Disney movie without talking animals, a definite plus in my book. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful I took my 8 1/2 year old son to this movie and I have to say it was so-so. It wasn't awful but it really wasn't that good. The beginning is very slow, long and boring. It was hard for me and my son, to watch a movie with the two main characters not speaking. I guess I'm so used to the silly movies with the talking chickens, penguins etc., that I couldn't imagine why robots couldn't speak. Gee, even bees speak....
I was disappointed and expected alot more. The short at the beginning of the movie is really funny and gave us a both a good laugh. Was this review helpful? The movie theatre filled to capacity was so silent, no one wanted to miss a second of this movie. We laughed, we cried, and lived it together all over again. This movie could have been 5 hours long and it still wouldn't have been enough. I had my doubts about this movie, feeling it just wouldn't be as exciting as the show, but it is. I will definitely go see this again (if I can manage to snag those hard to get tickets). Whether your a fan of the show or never even seen it, you'll love the girls. As for the handful of women who brought their guys with them, all I can say is "what are you thinking?". This is definitely a "bring your best girlfriends with ya" kind of movie. Leave the men at home. Was this review helpful? Sign In 4 out of 6 users found this helpful Posted: 3/30/2008A review of Superhero Movie by mommyjt This movie was plain awful. The only good thing about it was that it was 1 hour and 25 minutes long. I wouldn't have lasted any longer. This was nothing like Naked Gun or Airplane where there are laughs galore. When is release of bodily functions such as a too long fart scene and a peeing scene called funny? My 8 year old thought the fart scene was hysterical. Can't imagine anyone much older than that finding this movie funny.
I had more laughs in Horton Hears A Who. Was this review helpful? Sign In 6 out of 9 users found this helpful Posted: 3/14/2008A review of Horton Hears a Who! by mommyjt I just come home from this movie with my 8 year old son and his 8 year old friend.
This movie was soooo funny. The boys actually laughed and had smiles on their
faces. My son is a tough critic and is usually bored with kids movies. I must admit they weren't too sure when I first suggested the movie but they were happy I did. So many laughs and a wonderful message about believing and not seeing. Gives us all a lesson about faith. This movie is truly enjoyable and a definite must see. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful In my recent world of movie going consisting of green ogres, superheroes and silly talking penguins, I can tell you that I found this movie so enjoyable. Keri Russell was excellent in her role of Jenna. The characters were quite funny and I really did have some great laughs. I even enjoyed Andy Griffith as Joe, go figure. Definitely not a blockbuster summer hit, but a truly enjoyable movie for a girls' night out. Men would hate how they are portrayed. Cheers for the late Allison Shelly. Was this review helpful? Sign In 12 out of 17 users found this helpful I took two six year olds to see this movie today. Not too funny and actually was quite dreary. I think the World War II theme was a serious subject for a children's movie. I may have laughed once or twice but the boys were waiting for the good part and it just never happened. Maybe a movie for a school classroom, but not my kind of movie to bring the kids too for some enjoyment. Nothing like the Incredibles or Shrek. When I asked the boys the best part of the movie, they struggled for awhile and agreed that they liked "Stinky". Sorry Valient, you just weren't for us. Was this review helpful?
