I never read the book, but myself hopped a plane in 85; to Alaska at age 15 sought out my dad, who I later learned had abondoned not only me and my siblings but left another child fatherless. The price the movie parents paid for that crime made me look at the price I have made my dad pay for wanting me later and not the other child he left on his own, never recognizing him. I also am on the flip side having handed down to my child the dysfunction I have grown up with, with out intent, I felt both sides of the finely crafted sword.
