While Shrek contains numerous hilarious pop culture references and great chemistry between the leads, I found the angle of the love story between Myers Shrek and Diazs Fiona quite tedious rather than heartfelt. I would recommend to see this movie and savour it the first time, because it will lose its unique charm in later viewings.

I just recently viewed this classic on DVD, my first time seeing it in quite a while. This is, in my opinion, the movie that best sums up the spirit of Disney. Manic performances, stellar acting, enchanting songs, great chemistry (If that can be said about animated characters), and a tale of love that will never grow old. Again and again I can watch this movie, and each time it will evoke a new emotional response. Whether you love musicals or hate them, the charming, albeit short, Alan Menken score serves to put this movie on a whole new level. Youll find yourself absentmindedly humming the tunes, and, whats more, feeling like you should actually be singing!

The great thing about Batman Begins is that it moves as far away as a superhero movie can be. In fact, Batman Begins isnt a superhero movie at all. It is a study of basic human instinct, of pain, of fear. None of that campy WHAM POW stuff from the other Batman movies (that one is for you, George Clooney). Could there be a more perfect superhero than one not driven by kindness, but by what is hidden in the darkest depths of his soul? Anyway, terrific film. Will excite you and scare you silly.

Posted: 11/4/2005A review of Beauty and the Beast by Scott_Lawler
I once had the unique privelige of working on a stage adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, and after doing so my eyes were opened to the absolutely entrancing world of Disney films. After a refresher viewing of this movie I realized this is most likely the best work to come out of Disney, one of the greatest love stories ever put on film, and one of the greatest musical scores ever written. Hats off.

Posted: 11/4/2005A review of The Lion King by Scott_Lawler
While it is true that The Lion King is quite an entertaining story, it lacks that essential Disney magic. While other films by the studio are brilliant and enchanting, Lion King is not infused with the same spirit of enchantment that we find in the likes of Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin, its predecessors. If you cant be swept up in a giddy childhood state by an A-List animated feature, its a sad day for movies.
