Posted: 8/12/2005A review of In Utero [Explicit Version] [Explicit] by tallbob9
First all of nirvana's albums rock. Bleach was a raw unrefined type of grunge. Nevermind was a radio freindly intro to grunge. And this album was what nirvana wanted to sound like. This album really made fans question if they were real Nirvana fans or people who liked pop and all the other stuff they heard on the radio. This album is pure Indie Rock, pure Grunge, and pure Hard Rock. There is a noticable difference between the songs on here that were ment for radio and the ones that weren't. But the group seemed to try as hard as they could to get their sound as much in those songs too. I wouldn't say this is the best or that any of the other ones were the best or worst. Each album had a different sound. But, this album is a combination of Bleach and Nevermind. This was a crapy review i know but it's hard not to be single minded. But don't listen to the critics. To put it simple, if you like melodies and radio stuff then don't expand past Nevermind. But if you're a die hard Nirvana fan or you like hard grunge rock, then you'll like the album.

Everyone else seems to love this album and i won't be any different. RATM has a different sound that i didn't like at first but now i love it. it picks you up with Testify and doesn't let go till the end. you have trouble just listening to one song at a time; you just want more. Tom Morello to say the least is a guitar god. When i found out that they only use vocals, bass, guitar, and drums and thats it i was shocked. As with any Rage or Audioslave CD Tom Morello amazes you with his solos. And i think we all can agree that Tim C. is one of the best bassest out there. Even if you don't give jack $hit about the message you'll at least enjoy the music. this is their best album and thats all their is to say.

This is a more refined better polished follow-up to their first album and all i have to say is Damn. You'll notice right away that it is not as wild and raw as their first but it is just as good if not better. It really seems like they came together as a group and found their own sound. The whole album (not just a few songs) is very very well done. There is a wide variation from the hard chorus of The Worm to the mellow and very satisfying Doesen't Remind Me (one of the highlights of the album). The whole album is a very good buy and it is somthing that even those who aren't fans of Audioslave, Rage Against the Machine, or Soundgarden should consider.

ok, first, there shouldn't be a comparison between Nirvana and Alice in Chains (to the guy who said Nirvana's album was garbage). Nirvana was Grunge and Alice in Chains was more of an Alternative Metal. They both started the grunge era; Nirvana just made it main-stream. That out of the way this album is amazing. Jerry Cantrell's voice and Layne Staley's blend together so perfectly when they sing that you almost don't relize it's actually 2 different people singing. Now, it is stoner music just to warn you. Most of the songs are about heroin and it can get you down if you are easily depressed or somthing. Even so, the music itself is nothing short of a masterpeice. All of the songs, not just the singles you hear on the radio, have amazing guitar parts. If you love heavey metal than without question you should go out now and buy this. Even if you like hard rock you should buy it. To everyone else at least sample thier music because there is bound to be somthing you will like. With a variety of songs like Rooster, Would?, and Down in a Hole there is no reason to not like at least one song from this album.
