Paris is a well written, finely acted film featuring an excellent ensemble cast. The movie's intent seems to be the presentation of the city as a very human abode, not unlike any other major metropolis, but perhaps a little more beautiful. The various storylines are interesting, poignant, and often humorous. It is well worth seeing.

A very artsy fiick, beautifully filmed and acted, with excellent direction from Ms. Campion. This is not a biop of the poet, but deals with the last three years of his life during which he fell madly in love with Fanny Brawne and produced his greatest work. Hopefully this movie will be noticed at awards time.

A very well made film. Loved the performances, especially Waltz, Laurent, Bruhl, and Kruger. Its not at all what you expect from the previews-really a conspiracy movie that holds your interest through the last scene. Tarantino is at the top of his game. The film should be mentioned at awards time. Don't be misled by the usual negative reviews here by people who either didn't see it or talked to each other throughout.

Enjoyed the flick! I appreciated the character development and especially enjoyed Jackie and Malin. The movie was visually pleasing, as well. Good job by all.

The flick could and should have been better. The plot was hard to follow and the characters were not engaging enough to really care about. The movie looked good enough and the special effects were impressive.

Exciting flick with a stalwart performance from Liam Neeson, one of the more underrated actors working today. The pace of the film was just right, and it also has a message for young women that is worth heeding.

Posted: 2/12/2009A review of Slumdog Millionaire by 998877600
I saw this flick last week and found it moderately entertaining. Its about three kids growing up poor in Bombay. One of them reads a lot and makes it big on a game show. If you have seen 'Do You Want to Be a Millionaire', and who hasn't, then you have already seen one third of this movie. It has a happy ending for the two leads, Dev Patel and Frieda Pinto, and their dance number as the credits roll at the end is worth the price of admission. But this film, while very well made, is just plain overrated. I was not engaged by the story or the actors, and found the film lacking in dramatic power. The ending is predictable and not especially satisfying. I guess if you didn't know that India has slums, then this flick may be a revelation. Otherwise, its a good reason to enjoy some popcorn and wait for the ending.

Excellent acting, directing, screenplay, editing, and score are all present in this Oscar caliber film dealing with the complex psychological issues in Germany resulting from the Holocaust. The movie is riveting throughout and allows the viewer to personally decide at the end about the important issues raised. Winslet is brilliant and probably will cop an Oscar for her performance.

The movie raises provacative issues about integrity, moral choice, and compassion. It has fine performances from the the three principal actors, the best of which is given by young Amy Adams, who brings a fresh, if rather naive honesty to her role as a novice nun. The film seems curiously slow moving and I didn't really feel engaged by the story. This could be because of deficits in the screenplay and direction. Worth a look.

A very nice looking movie with attractive leads and scenery. A weak script dooms the enterprise to mediocrity, however, as I never really got engaged by the plot or actors, though I liked Bryan Brown and the aborigines. Don't spend your last dollar on this one.

Its been awhile since a relly good western appeared on the big screen. Appaloosa is intelligently written, well acted and directed, and the cinematography is first rate. I liked the climax, which was a surprise but also predictable at the same time. Go see it.

Nicely paced, well photographed flick with the usual solid performance from Nick Cage. Charlie Young is charmingly beautiful as the fated love interest. The movie got only average critic reviews but I think is a little bit better than that. The climax is rather poignant and intense. Worth a look.

This flick doesn't work, in spite of the interesting concept. It never seems to be going anywhere, and its not all that funny. Robert Downney has some humorous moments, and Tom Cruise is enjoyable in his cameo role. Wait for it to come out on rentals.

It could have been better but this movie did have its moments. The message is very worthwhile-lets take better care of this planet, or else the planet may take care of us. The fine singer and Broadway star, Betty Buckley, has an interesting and frightening turn as a psychotic recluse that Mark Wahlberg stumbles across in his efforts to save himself, his wife, and his friend's daughter. The movie held my interest, and the use of wind and blowing grass was very effective in presenting the horrific danger threatening the lives of the people.

Posted: 7/5/2008A review of Wanted by 9966550
The flick has a lot of action, good acting, and excellent production values. But, it lacks soul. I found it difficult to get involved with the characters and the plot. They are too one dimensional and the plot too predictable. The movie would seem to be a bit overrated, perhaps because of the big names involved in it. Save your money and see it on video.
